Chanting Overrated at opponents during victory

Why do people do this? We beat Tennessee pretty handedly last night. They made a few runs but we closed it out. Our fans start chanting overrated.
Sure it sounds good to tell them that but we are also indirectly telling our kids that victory really wasn’t that great. Don’t we actually want Tennessee to be accurately rated? Beating a good ranked team looks good for us. We cheer for everyone we’re going to play so when we beat them it’s best case for us and our NET ranking.
Sorry…it’s petty I know but good fans bases don’t chant this crap. Downvote away but if you downvote at least out yourself as a not educated fan so we know who you are. Tell us why you think it’s so cool.

I hate when fans chant that. It's amazing how they don't realize that it just makes your team look worse by saying you beat an overrated team. Dumbest chant in sports.

It’s really stupid, but at the same time everyone bitches about the students not showing up or making noise. Now they show up in full force and people are complaining about them chanting.

The point is to get under the opponent's skin, not to factor into an algorithm.
