Stats are our friend!

Out of curiosity, where did those rankings come from?

If making a case about the SEC being smarter, you should probably correct this:

How did you resist an Aggie joke there?

Interesting, to be sure. But they have a shitty ranking methodology. And what would happen if they added Tulane and Notre Dame?

Noted. Can you find an academic ranking list that would make the B12 look better than the SEC?

Notre Dame at 19, and not happening.

Tulane at 50, and I don't see why they'd agree to the Big Twouble.

Both of those schools are very real possibilities, I'm just saying. Will this post be updated if that happens to amend your assertion?

A poll of most SEC fans would probably render this discussion moot, as long as the football team is there academics are low priority in the Deep South

I always find rankings of undergraduate rankings silly to begin with.

undergrad is undergrad is undergrad.... there's basically no difference practically-speaking in an undergraduate degree from Ole Miss and Harvard and Jacksonville State and Florida International and Princeton.

Is there a perception? Certainly. But at the end of the day undergraduate degrees and the knowledge that comes with those respective degrees are all the same across the board.

Biology class at one school is no different than biology class at another school. Marketing class at one school is no different than marketing class at another school. Algebra at one school is no different than algebra at another school. I could go on and on...

Anybody that doesn't take the US rankings report with a grain of salt doesn't know the true origin of the ranking...

It is mostly based on undergrad acceptance...

WVU wants all their residents to have a shot at an education so they can stay in state, make more money with a degree...more money = more tax revenue

WVU has a very good Business program (Accounting dept. is in the top 100 and is the first in the nation to offer a PhD in forensic accounting). WVU also has a very good Engineering program.

WVU could change their admission standards at the snap of a finger. They don't because they are a public university with state government involvement.

Not that I expect anyone (myself included although I am a WVU grad and a CPA during the slow season) posting on this website during normal business hours to understand that.

Notre Dame still has that pesky TV contract.

Tulane, since its all about the money, stiposedly, do they bring any fans? They seem to be about half the size of Baylor with even fewer fans going to games and worse athletics.

If Baylor was not currently a member of the Big 12-2-1+1-1+1, would they be added?

Why would Tulane then?

A partially agree, which I why I think this whole topic or discussion is stupid to begin with. Nothing matters until it might work in your favor.

Tulane would certainly agree to it, but I really don't see the Big XII taking a team that is horribly uncompetitive even in CUSA and literally draws less than 1000 fans to a home game.

So does WV not have a JUCO/community college system?
