Their lack of identity and stability was caused by all of their mixture of schools committed to the conference in different sports. Adding Air Force as a football only member continues and worsens this problem.

This is but a Band-Aid on a festering wound.

Getting Airforce in order to attract Army and Navy.

If they can get all three in the same conference it would be cool.

They suck in everything but basketball and will always suck. They need their AQ status stripped ASAP.

The big east is also thinking of adding Boise, navy and as you stated air force as football only members and ucf and temple as all all sports.

if the BE deserved a BCS bid before, replacing Pitt/cuse, who never even won the BE, with Air Force, Boise State, Navy, UCF, and east carolina.

Tell me how the BE is weaker than before?

Adding Air Force, Army and Navy would maintain it's AQ status. Can you imagine the BCS denying the BCS and national championship game to our future soldiers and sailors who are will make the ultimate sacrifice.

Good move. I'd like to see big ten and SEC fans try to claim that the service acadamies aren't good enough for the BCS.

Both of them have won and/or shared the BE title as well as represented the conference in a BCS bowl. 'Cuse in 1997 and 1998. Pitt went to a BCS bowl in 2004 and tied for the league championship last season.

My bad let me rephrase. Since the ACC raid Cuse has been awful and not won anything. Pitt has shared in 1 conference title but never represented the BE.

Yes Pitt got to a BCS bowl in 04 in a 3 way tie and was humiliated by Utah which still had Urban Meyer as coach. that is how long ago it was.

What I am saying, is Pitt/Cuse are basketball losses. Not football losses. Boise State could beat a Pitt/Cuse all star team by 35 points.

the new bcs contract will prolly conference involve power rankings and a will require conferences to maintain a certain number of top 25 teams over a period to maintain BCS status.

Should the Big east lose its AQ status? Yes, as they dont have the power rating to justify taking that money away from other conferences IMO, but this didnt just start this year.

Based on the current rules though the BE meets the minumum requirements to maintain AQ status.

and adding the service academies was/is a good more for the football playing schools. the catholic schools need to break away with ND and form a catholic league though and create its own network with ND. Should the services acadimies be AQ? I say no, they arent good enough. And Im former ARMY but they just arent good enough in sports now a days. This is just my opinion though and this move will pull at heart strings. People have a hard time making rational decisions when it comes to the military or anything to do with the military and nobody will want to tell these schools no now that the invitation is out there.

The Big East has also out performed the ACC the last several years on the AQ status scoring samples. Should we take away their AQ bid as well?

I'll give you BSU but the rest are garbage. UCF and ECU are emerging programs and haven't proven anything on a consistent basis. You must be kidding about the academy schools. This isn't pre-Vietnam War Army. Academies are at a competitive disadvantage vs good BCS teams and don't even give me the Navy beat Notre Dame crap. BSU may not even take a BE invite so I don't know why you act like BE has the power to pick and choose what schools to bring in. It is evident that an unstable Big 12 is much more desireable than a Big East conference that segregates football and basketball partners. BE is a joke!

ACC could claim BCS titles with the only Big East BCS title holding schools now in the ACC. ACC could also claim that they are holding together the conference which is something the Big East commish couldn't say.

I respect them for their service but is that really a good reason to include them as BCS teams?

Remember that none of the 3 schools are currently in AQ conferences, its not like we'd be taking anything away from them.

I ts a catch 22, the top big east teams have good records because they play in a shite conference. Head to head ACC is much better then the big east top to bottom.
