Great! As long as it's not the SEC.
That will save us Aggies a passel of money on exit fees. duke and Wake will give them a run for their money

Chip makes stuff up to read his own words. Not a credible source

From Orangebloods.com

But if the Big 12 comes apart, another way for Texas to hold onto LHN may be joining the Atlantic Coast Conference, two sources close to the situation said Monday. ESPN holds the TV rights in the ACC and also owns and operates LHN.
But the ACC would only come into play if Oklahoma left for the Pac-12 and the Big 12 busted up, sources said.
One source close to the situation said the ACC, which is trying to fend off a potential raid by the Southeastern Conference (Virginia Tech continues to be mentioned by sources as an SEC target), would possibly look to add Texas, Syracuse, Connecticut and Rutgers to grow to 16.
Sources say Missouri has received feelers from the Big Ten, SEC, Pac-12 and Big East. Kansas has also received feelers from the Pac-12 and Big East, sources said. Kansas State has also received feelers from the Big East, sources said.

I would have to see it to believe it.

After reading all of Chip's news I have to wonder how factual too. I mean if B1G passed on Mizzou when they took Little Red why send feelers out now?
I think his 'source' is someone within the Mizzou athletic organization.

I can't see all those conferences being interested in mizzou.

I know the first thing that pops into my mind when I think Atlantic Coast is Texas.....yep, great fit.

pure conjecture and speculation with a dash of intentional misinformation

I am 100% convinced that Chip is being fed bull**** by someone from the Texas AD's office to help with negotiations with the Pac 12 &/or Big 10 so that Texas can keep the LHN.
The one part of Chip's article that is 100% correct is that the Texas Board of Regents does not want to lose the many millions that the LHN contributes to academics.....especially during this time when the legislature is tightening the purse-strings for higher education.
However, as a Texas-ex in the heart of ACC country, I could easily road trip to a lot of the games so for that selfish reason I wouldn't mind this scenario.

So it would be impossible to dole out $5 mil of the potential $40 mil Texas would get with the Pac-16 to academics?

'Potential' is the key word.....the Regents see the LHN as a lock.
Texas is in a weird spot. In terms of $, going independent is the most lucrative option. This means finding a home for the other sports and the AD knows this means something like Conference USA - and he doesn't like this. There is apparently a lot of internal battles going on right now.

this is one thing you and I are in 100% agreement on
it's no secret Mack loathes Ketchum and subsequently OB.com. They reluctantly have to allow them media access as shutting them out would only do more harm than good. It seems as though Chip Brown's relationships from within Bellmont were fairly good from his time at the Dallas Morning News, but when he joined Ketch and that crew, he surely did not ingratiate himself with the athletic department. I have to think that Chip's "loyal" and "trustworthy" sources aren't as solid as he thinks. I believe as well that the various assistants and middle management from within the department that Chip's used to relying on is either knowingly or unknowingly feeding him misinformation with a purpose.
I'm not going to bother speculating what that master plan Deloss has in mind, but he is manipulating the public for some reason

DeLoss wants the Pac 12 &/or Big 10 to think that the ACC would let the Horns keep the LHN as a single school network.

Chip just posted this winner:

Texas wants to hold the Big 12 together. Hard to believe, but true. In intense discussions with OU. May or may not work out.

Flinging shite at the walls, something will stick and he'll point to that as proof that he knows what he's talking about.
