Pretty silly. WVU is definitely as good as middle tier SEC teams and has done well in postseason against good programs. Their basketball program is solid as well.

If its all about tv area Mizzou W Virgina

and I still say we throw Navy a bone. Conditional on adding seating to home stadium.

They should get corporate sponsors to build it.
We can't go after all the national powers.

If you guys don't think Mizzou is serious about being #14, there are $160 million in donations by several major donors on hold, just waiting for acceptance. Those donations will not happen if Mizzou ends up in a conference like the Big East.

WVU isn't a better long term move for the SEC.

you didn't answer the question as to how they aren't an "SEC caliber" school...

do you just read what you want to read? this has been discussed a zillion times.

FSU and all other ACC teams have a 20 million buyout.

better yet, FSU's OWN frickING PRESIDENT up'd the buyout.

FSU has zero intention of joining the SEC.

adding florida state wouldn't add to the SEC footprint.

there is already the florida gators, that own the state.

Buy out didn't stop A&M.
You guys think the SEC shopping list is the top 20 is isn't. It's about TV sets.
Navy despite DOC's laughing has a huge following. They just don't live near campus any more.
Navy wouldn't be my top choice, but if the buy outs stop schools like most are saying, The top schools Fla. St, NC, WF. etc are not coming.
Miami would add tv viewers but I don't want them.

it wouldn't be a better deal for FSU

You're gonna have some massive crow to eat if FSU does jump ship. You're acting like you know everything that's going on behind the scenes in 3 different BCS conferences.

LOL, you really believe that? The Missouri administration is extremely risk adverse. They would never make a move like that. In fact they won't be making any move until OU kills the conference.

I guess you are also unaware that FOIA requests last year showed Missouri had no conversations with the Big 10. There was only forwarding around internally of news articles between the Chancellor and the AD staff.

how so? I have no dog in the fight.

I'm neither an FSU or WVU fan, just trying to sort out what is feasible and makes the most sense.

i'm looking at it from the SEC's viewpoint, and FSU's.

FSU's president just made some moves that goes against EVERYTHING that says FSU would jump ship anytime soon.

What was he supposed to do?

Also revenue wise how does the ACC help out FSU? Your BCS bowl argument holds no water due to revenue sharing.

I was told to expect something official on #WVU to the SEC by Tuesday/Wednesday. Looks like we're on schedule.

Missouri Coach Don Faurot invented the split T offense which was the foundation of the wishbone and veer offenses which for a long time dominated college football.

In the 1960 under Dan Devine, Missouri went undefeated until losing in the final regular season game against KU. KU was forced to forfeit the game for using an ineligible player. The national champion back then was awarded prior to the bowl games. Minnesota at 9-1-1 was named national champion and ended up losing their bowl game. Missouri went on to win the Orange Bowl holding Navy's Heisman trophy winning RB to only 4 yards.

In the 1960s Missouri was the only program to not lose more than 3 games in a season and finished with the 6th best record in college football for the decade.

Dan Devine left in the early 1970s for the Green Bay Packers.

In the late 1970s, the University of Missouri hired the first woman chancellor. She wanted to make Mizzou a "public Ivy League" school and cut funding for athletics. This destroyed the football program and left the facilities to rot. From the early 1980s until the late 1990s, 2-3 wins a season were typical for Missouri.

Dan Devine returned in the late 1990s as athletic director. He led efforts to rebuild Mizzou's facilities and hired Larry Smith as coach who led Mizzou to two bowl games, including a win over West Virginia in the Holiday Bowl. Unknown to most Larry Smith was battling health issues so recruiting declined and he was replaced by Gary Pinkel.

Missouri has steadily improved under Pinkel. The university continues to invest in the athletic facilities. We now have $160 million in improvements just waiting on the sidelines in donor pockets which will become reality if Mizzou is in the SEC.

Included in future plans is stadium renovations expanding capacity to 81,000.

If Mizzou ends up in the SEC, the additional revenue will only further aid in improvements.

Even during our worst years we still averaged an attendance in the mid 50,000s. That is impressive do when a program averaged 3 wins a season over a period of nearly 20 years.

It was already mentioned by a reporter covering Mizzou, that the football coaching staff greatly prefers the SEC over the Big 10.

LSU fans probably remember Josh Henson. He left LSU to join Pinkel's staff here at Mizzou.

God that's ignorant.. The entire northern border of W.V. is the "Mason/Dixon" line..

Anyhow, as a south Louisiana native that has been working in WV for the last two years I can honestly say that I've seen more Confederate "rebel" flags in 2 years in WV than I saw in 28 years growing up in Louisiana and around the south..

I think WVU is a good fit, for those not convinced about their TV markets, you're seriously underestimating the markets of Pittsburgh and Washington DC.

Pittsburgh - 1 hr from Morgantown
Washington DC - 3 hrs from Morgantown

for the lol's - Cleveland is only 3 hrs from Morgantown as well
