I am not sure, but it's getting pretty frustrating.

But, look at these statistics and tell me what you think.

Total Offense
#6
but none of the defenses we have faced are in the top 50

Total Defense
#92
but faced the following offenses:
#2 Baylor
#3 Oklahoma State
#4 Oklahoma
#10 Missouri
#11 Texas Tech
#23 Arkansas

Texas A&M -- #9 Toughest Schedule

I don't know. The dude can't finish a game for shite, but these statistics make a case. I guess the most important stat is 5-4.

Even more important is how A&M finishes the season. If they finish 6-6, I think he's gone.

Sherman has a worse record and pretty much worse stats across the board than Fran did at this same point in his tenure. He needs to go.

I think we are stuck with him for at least two more years unless an NFL team hired him as an OC.

he will last this year

next year he has the built in excuse for losing with joining the SEC and losing almost every key skills position player so he will keep his job just off of that.

year two of SEC is where he will end up getting the ax.

it took Fran getting publicly outed selling information about the team to gather the political capitol to can him so I dont see the well liked (by A&M admin peeps) Sherman getting a shorter leash.

Things under Sherman are no where near as bad as under Fran. We are losing because:

A. Our defense sucks. Defensive Coordinator Tim DeRuyter is in his 2nd year. Give him a chance.

B. Turnovers.

There have been a number of blown decisions with 4th and short, field goal, punt, etc. Also, I would blame abandoning the running game against OSU as much as the turnovers for that loss. I would force an Offensive Coordinator/play caller on Shermin and fire wide receivers coach Troy Walters. Our receivers have regressed this year. Way to damned many dropped passes. Fuller catches all of the blame on Texags, but EZ has been down this season, and Swope had a couple of brutal drops last Saturday.

Here is a breakdown of our offense in our four losses. I was trying to figure out how we kept moving the ball in the 3rd quarter but not scoring.

Our season in a nutshell... we put up 537 yards of offense on OU and lose. They outscore us 28-0 in the 3rd quarter. Two interceptions and a 14 yard punt mean that three of those drives were 31, 28, and 39 yards. The other was 68 yards.

-----------------------------------
9/24/2011
OK State at A&M
1st half - total yards 301 / total points 20 / turnovers 0
2nd half - total yards 170 / total points 9 / turnovers 4

A&M vs Arkansas

1. There's a reason that the buyout clause was inserted into the contract after McKinney left. I think the only way Sherman saves his job is if he wins out...which would be our first bowl win in 10 years.

2. We return the following starters and 2-deep next year: (starters in bold)

QB - Jameill Showers (RS-SO)
HB - Christine Michael (SR)
WR - Ryan Swope (SR)
WR - Uzoma Nwachukwu (SR)
WR - Malcome Kennedy (RS-SO)
WR - Kenric McNeal (SR)
WR - Brandal Jackson (SR)
TE - Michael Lamothe (SR)
TE - Nehemiah Hicks (JR)
OT - Luke Joeckel (JR)
OT - Joseph Cheek (RSFR)
OG - Brian Thomas (RS-SR)
OG - Shep Klinke (JR)
C - Patrick Lewis (SR)
OG - Cedric Ogbuehi (RS-SO)
OG - Jarvis Harrison (RS-SO)
OT - Jake Matthews (JR)
DE - Jon Mathis (RS-SR)
DE - Gavin Stansbury (RS-SO)
DT - Kirby Ennis (RS-JR)
DE - Spencer Nealy (SR)
LB - Sean Porter (SR)
LB - Tyrell Taylor (SO)
LB - Steven Jenkins (JR)
LB - Charlie Thomas (RS-JR)
LB - Jonathan Stewart (SR)
LB - Shaun Ward (SO)
LB - Damontre Moore (JR)
LB - Caleb Russell (RS-SR)
DB - Dustin Harris (SR)
DB - Steven Campbell (SR)
DB - Steven Terrell (SR)
DB - Howard Matthews (SO)
P - Ryan Epperson (SR)

From the Bryan/College-Station Eagle, dated 21 July 2011.

quote:

Sherman, who is 19-19 in three seasons, will be paid $2.2 million per year through March 2016, with A&M holding options for 2016 and 2017.

Sherman's current seven-year contract was scheduled to run through 2015 and it paid him $1.8 million annually. That contract, signed in December 2007, didn't have a buyout clause. Under the new agreement approved by Texas A&M's Board of Regents on Friday, Sherman would be paid $1.8 million if the pact would be terminated by A&M without cause before March 2012. The buyout would drop to $1.44 million in 2013, eventually sliding to $500,000 in 2016.

We got a buyout clause. With that, I see a different play by Byrne. If there is no marquee coach available (spare us the Houston Nutt shite) at the end of next season, he will stay.

I'd be willing to be 1000 internets that Johnny Manziel is the starter next year. No reason to waste his redshirt this year.

Manziel will be a RS-Freshman next year. I was mentioning returning lettermen from the 2-deep.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--bringing in a new coach for the first year in the SEC, with the losses we are having at the skill positions, would be like brining in a relief pitcher and asking him to intentionally walk the first batter. Sherman will be left in to take one for the team. Beyond that, his future is very iffy.

Offensively, we lose 1 RB, 1 QB, and 1 WR.

Defensively, we lose 3 CB, 2 DL, 1 LB, and 1 Safety

Special Teams wise, we lose 1 K

That's total losses
