Yeah, you got it. You really know your SEC football..

AU/FL played the first time 99 years ago. When the SEC split in 1992, AU/UF had been played 68 times. UT/Bama 72. Through 2002, AU/UF have played 80 times. Bama/UT 84. Practically the same number of games and AU/UF have had 33 games decided by less than 1 score. It was and is a great rivalry that was sacrificed.

Mizzou in the SEC in the West with AU to the east renews a great rivalry and ends another. There is no doubt it is in the best interest of the SEC and the reason most of the SEC wants it.

But as discussed, bama is scared as they have been in the past. We will see what happens next.

As far as the rivalry, Auburn/Florida isn't remotely comparable to Tennessee/Bama. Auburn has at least 2 bigger rivalries than Florida and Florida has at least two as well.

Honestly, I love LSU fans. You guys are great but you shouldn't even bother commenting on rivalries because a lot of you guys actually try to argue that the LSU/Ole Miss "rivalry" is up there with the greatest SEC rivalries. This is one small area of college football (important historical rivalries) that LSU fans are clueless about because you guys have none. Let those fanbases who have them (Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida) talk about them.

As for re-alignment, it's good to see that a fan of the newest SEC member is the voice of reason in all this discussion. It comes down to an argument of convenience. Is is better to inconvenience 1 BRAND NEW member (Mizzou) or AT LEAST 2 charter members (Tennessee and Alabama) of the conference. If Auburn/Florida was such a great rivalry how about Auburn stay west and choose them as a permanent opponent? Oh, that messes up their rivalry with Georgia? Get over it right? That game can be played just as easily with other teams that have important rivalries.

Nice try, but UA's stance isn't about rivalries so much as not wanting Auburn in the east.

No one is fooled.

Fact. Bama fans appear fooled, but they are not that bright and do not really count though.

Not at all.

Alabama has two objectives: Keep its annual cross-division rivalry game against Tennessee, and not watch Auburn move to the East and possibly grow its recruiting presence in talent-rich Florida and Georgia

Which of these two objectives do you honestly feel is more important to Saban?

Take your time...

Both. Tennessee especially does not want to lose their biggest rival so they will be voting no and Bama does not want to lose Tennessee and does not want AU in the East. Bama and UT will be voting no to any move that sends AU East (as will most likely Vandy, USC, UK) and everyone else needs to deal with that and move on. Even if Bama and UT are the only no votes, the move will never happen. And that is just the way it is. What a bunch of 19 year olds on the internet think will not change anything.

bullshite. I bet if AU told bama to frick itself and insisted on moving east as everyone (cept bama and UT want), it would happen.

AU is being nice as usual. AU isn't scared like bama and never has been.

honestly if they ever got their shite together it could be a great rivalry again. i am no counting on it though.

You would need 9 votes and you will never get it. The SEC hates Auburn (see Cam and Chiz losing player and coach of the year awards to obviously less deserving people). Slive won't even call it to a vote unless he has unanimous support.

The SEC already has 10 votes for Mizzou in the West and AU moving east.

Chickenshit bama is 1 of 2 no votes.

I'm just quoting the other thread. It does seem reasonable (what was quoted in the other thread).

The Kansas City Star reported a couple of weeks ago that Mizzou had eight votes to enter in the West and ten to enter in the east. They said that Vandy and Florida were against them and the two east-conditional votes were Bama and Tenn.

That was a couple of weeks ago and second hand reporting, same as what was reported today that Mizz has 10 votes now to enter in the West.

I would prefer to see Mizzou in the West. I was just posting what I had read.

TAMU+Mizzou to west, AU to east. Then we finally might have a balanced conference.

Saban is making the decision?

I very much doubt Bama would be fine dropping the rivalry even if Auburn didn't go to the West.
