But what is there to gain from doing it right now. The bowl game is all that is left.

It's not like someone is going to come in and save the season in 3 weeks

They've been feeling this out for awhile.they know what they can possibky get. They aren't pushing Brown out if they're hopeful to get James Franklin.

Imo they at least have a maybe feom Saban and a yes from a Miles or Dantonio or Fisher or coach of that caliber. Theyre not sending Mack out to pasture after being a game away from winning the big 12 if they're not sure the coach they're bringing in is going to beat Stoops and win the bigh 12. Its gotta be a can't miss coach.

It would be much better to be the ut that pushed Mack out to hire Saban than to be the UT that pushed out a coach that went to a bowl and was still in big 12 contention in the last week of the season.

This is a dumb question everyone knew Mack wasn't coming back after the embarrassing loss on national TV to BYU, so yes they would trade him for about 50 other coaches in the nation easy right now

I think Ole Miss wrecking shop on them after UT totally dominated them last year was the final straw.

No one will dispute that. My point is that there is no upside or reason to push him out and make him resign RIGHT NOW (before the bowl game), unless they have someone locked up.

Why not just let him finish season, coach the bowl game, and let him go out with his dignity?

I haven't seen one good explanation for it yet

I'm not sure who Texas' next coach will be, They have some huge balls if they can Mack with nobody already lined up. I just think they have their next coach already in the fold.

Yes. They are committed to making a change one way or another. That should be pretty clear.

Saban or not, they surely have someone who has already said they'd be the guy if it came down to it

I don't agree with that.

You go on thinking that if it makes you feel better. The reality is Texas has Saban signed, sealed, and delivered. It's just about timing of the announcement now.

Do you follow college football?

No one gives a shite about the bowl game. You get the new coach in there ASAP to salvage the recruiting class and get his staff in place.

If you wait until after the bowl game (like LSU in 2005 thanks to short stuff) you end up with a shite or incomplete class and most of the top coaches are locked up with new deals (Gus, Sumlin, Mora, etc....)

You don't fire an 8-4 coach at worst unless you are sure you can replace him with a sure 10+ win coach.

Saban has to be gone..... unless he is allowing the now national rumor to continue as the ultimate troll. If one feels unappreciated nothing will make you feel appreciated more than watching your fanbase quaking in their boots over the possibility of your bolting. Whether he goes or stays I guaran-fricken-tee you he's loving this shyt.

U not too bright are you..Most big time programs want to get a new coach in place ASAP after the regular season so they can put a staff in place and recruit as quickly as possible. USC hired someone quick. Wash. hired someone quick. UT wants their man in place prior to the bowl season and screw who coaches in bowl game..If he is forced into retirement they may let him coach the bowl game. Most incoming new coaches don't coach the team in a bowl game.

no they don't have him signed to anything..You know what kind of deep dodo UT would be if they allowed NS or any coach to sign a contact prior to publicly announcing the current coach is fired.

After the last few days, I am absolutely convinced of UT's ability to not frick this up.

Been around coaching changes much? No. They likely have no firm commitments. That's not how it works.

Not too big on the reading comprehension thing are you? That was my point. Why would they be pushing him out if they didn't already have someone lined up and ready to go. I didn't see the purpose of forcing him out if someone wasn't pretty much locked in. But they are, so that must mean they have someone.

And I'm the dumb one
