I'm told that 2 very influential & rich Texas boosters have circumvented the UT athletic department and made contact with Saban's agent for a 7 year deal for $70 mil. I know who they are but won't mention them by name. Most likely won't happen because of the political hurdles at UT, but they have Saban's attention.

Mack returns 19 starters, so 2013 is it for him in what looks like a down year for B12. Conference championship is a minimum it appears.

Mack has created an atmosphere of insurrection among some of the big boys, primarily over the retention of Manny Diaz as DC, who oversaw the worst year statistically for a defense at UT. As crazy as it sounds, I know for a fact that the contact in the OP has happened. I don't go around creating BS just for affect.

playing the devils advocate a bit ok. He will be 62 at the end of next FB season. At some point you have all the money you need. I am pretty sure his agent has been contacted by many organizations who threw money at him. He stayed at Alabama. If you believe NS and Terri then they have both stated they will retire in ttown. At some point in your career you settle down and manage the process instead of starting it all over again. I hope you dream good at night thinking it might happen. As a Bama fan I would wish him well and thank him for the foundation.

Even the most optimistic Bama fan knows Saban isn't doing this for another 7 years.

With 7/70 you might as well make it 15/150.

Also, for $10 million you could probably get Bellichek and make it interesting for Harborough in a contract year.

No one wants to deal with Texas boosters and politics. It's why you haven't had good coaches other than DKR and Mack Brown (if you want to call him a good coach).

Slow down guys. I never said I though it would happen, just said that 2 individuals have made contact. I happen to work for 1 of them. Personally, I don't like the deal and certainly don't like rogue boosters circumventing the AD, BOR, President, etc. And I think that big time college football coaches are overpaid as it is. But these guys don't care any longer about being politically correct.

This is what is commonly referred to as "lack of institutional control". Not sure that boosters reaching out to determine a coach's potential interest could qualify to be called the way you described it.

To answer the question in the OP, no, he wouldn't turn it down. IF (massive IF) Texas offered that amount, Bama would match and he would accept the Bama offer of $70M.

I don't argue with this. Its why it won't happen. A lot of things would have to happen - essentially toppling the existing power structure of the athletic department & maybe even the President. But these money brokers feel like they have the sway to accomplish this if Saban agrees to their terms.
