Heard from a friend who has ties to the UH program that Herman internally told some people he wants to stay at Houston. I told him that's agent speak and BS driving up the bidding war. What are your thoughts on this?

Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No.

His team is undefeated and in the top 10 of course he is going to say that. This season has been special for them and he doesn't want to take that away from his players.

There's a hallway floor in our facility that is 25 years old. It rains a lot in Houston, so who knows what's under it by now. But a few months ago, the little rubber tiles started to peel up like a potato chip. I said, "Hey, this isn't safe for our athletes." After 10 or 15 emails, I said that I would pay for it. I went to Home Depot, bought a bunch of scrapers and spent a night peeling the tiles back. I was fully prepared to spend my own money to put a floor down. It was for my guys and for recruiting. I peeled up the floor myself because if somebody was going to be angry about it, I didn't want anyone else to get in trouble but me. It actually didn't take me that long, like three or four hours. I stacked the tiles up in the locker room. In a few weeks, we ended up with new floors.

Lol

Houston football is a little shitass running around with the big boys.

Have you seen their football stadium? I know LSU gets shite for the 2nd half crowd, but UH's crowd looks less than LSU's during the first half.

It's a commuter school.

He almost left UH last year for USCe, but he knew he would have a good team this year, and he hedged his bets that there would be some bigger job openings.

Herman is about to hit the jackpot.

Talking to my friend, it sounds like his "insider" is probably as deep as it gets. I'll just leave it at that.

I lived in Houston for 29 years

U of H is mostly remember for the last second loss against NCST in the title game as huge favorite....

Phi Slamma Jamma was awesome show no doubt...

other than a few good football teams over 30 years, it's a forgotten place/team.

commuter school

There is no way or reason for him to stay if Texas, USC or LSU (in that order) want him. He's building something good in Houston, but each of those three already have something great.

Texas is actually hoping that Strong fails, so they can get Herman on board next season. If Strong loses this weekend, you can bet he's out...just watch and see if Luck becomes the new AD. His first task will be to fire Strong and hire Herman.

There will be upwards of 10 teams offering him between 4-7 million dollars in December. There is no way he is staying.

This.

He's probably going to LSU, USC, Texas, etc. No need to announce it right now and shite on a dream season

It is called "professionalism". Some people just have it.

Spurrier wanted to stay at Duke, but just like Steve Tom can't afford to stay at Houston

If Houston gets in the big 12 I'm sure he'd love to stay at Houston. The problem is if he wants to win national championships he needs to be in a p5 conference.

I really don't see him staying at UH, even if they get in the big 12. The jobs that are probably going to be available at the end of this season are just too good for a coach of his caliber to pass up.

UH people just keep saying "...but Fertita is going to pay to keep him". Yeah, okay, Fertita is a billionaire by not being an idiot. He's not going to bankroll their entire athletic budget by himself, which is what it would take because they don't really have any other big donors and their athletic department does not make the money it takes to keep him, his staff, and upgrade facilities... unlike all the other schools that are going to come calling on Herman.

this why i love facebook newspaper comments, on the KHOU fb page:

quote:

Michael Warren It would be nice if he showed a little bit of character and stayed at UH, but he won't and will end up at UT. If that is the case, good riddance to bad rubbish and too bad his parents didn't teach him to be a man

I'm not saying he'll stay, but this is not true anymore. With incentives i think he can clear $3M or close to it. If they got in the Big XII (extremely unlikely) he'd get a 5M bonus.

Noone knows whats in this guys head. But he may feel a little loyalty to the program that gave him his big break that hes built from the ground up. Plus at Houston he has a clear shot at the playoffs if they run through their conf that lets admit, isn't exactly a hard feat.

When they dbl'd his salary they said it was just the beginning. They plan to keep him at Houston for a long time.

Hopefully they lose to Louisville.

However there's still a chance they go undefeated and still don't make the playoff. If that happens and Houston doesn't get into a new conference, I think there's no doubt he'll leave.
