I don't think the Sugar will have anything to do with it one way or the other

I doubt it's announced until after the Heisman presentation. People may think he's a jerk, I don't think he steals the spotlight.
He has stolen Auburn & FSU's spotlight like a thief in the night!

I have seen or heard shite about the BCSNC game, their coaches, their players - nothing, not even a breakdown of the gameplans, schemes, etc.

How do you figure? Is he not allowed to leave a job and take another job that he thinks is better for him?

Seriously? Nobody has a problem with someone taking a new job that is better for them. In fact most congratulate them on it and wish them the best.

IT IS THE WAY SABAN goes about taking another job that makes him a jerk. Look at HOW he went about taking his last 2 (or 3) jobs and you see why he is a Jerk with a capital J.

What does the Sugar Bowl have to do with Saban's decision?

Saban's probably thinking, "by God if my team isn't playing for the crystal I'll do my level best to make sure the nations focus is STILL on me and my program."

I don't get that either. Guy has coached how many BCS bowls already? I seriously he would be worried about missing out on that one. If anything, I think Saban would five that game as an opportunity for his assistants to audition for the job if he took the UT job.

nick saban has continually lied and done this since his first head coaching job at toledo, and he only coach there a year. this is a man who will lie to a recruit and his family face and then leave town to get what he wants in money and control. this is a man who according to heath evans walked right over a football player who was convulsing on the floor in the locker room and told his players there's more important things to do, didn't help this guy out didn't call the doctor, nothing. and this is the type of coach that is going to leave alabama for texas.

Why would you let him hang around if you know he is gone? I wouldn't

I see it the other way....no way he is staying at Alabama if he DOESN't confirm it before Saturday. By remaining silent, he IS taking the limelight away from McCarron. If he is staying, and wants his boy to get full attention, then he puts an end to it before the ceremony. Period.

You're either a child or a failure. If I leave my job, where my employees and my peers count on me every single day, for another job for any reason whatsoever, does that make me a greedy scumbag? Of course not - people change jobs all the time. If someone asked me today if I were planning on leaving, I'd say (truthfully) "No." But, if ten minutes later another job that I wanted came calling for me, then I'd leave, and I wouldn't be a liar or a greedy scumbag.

Seriously, some people on here can't separate their (out of control) emotions from reality.

Bama is a job for Saban, just like A&M is a job for Sumlin and LSU is a job for Miles. They may like their jobs and the cities they live in, but they aren't irrevocably joined to them. People who see coaches changing jobs as some sort of "betrayal" are pathetic.

Agreed, but I'm sure you can understand how these fans felt butthurt, not over the fact he left for the Dolphins job, but over the fact he returns to an in conference rival. Sure there was harsh feelings, Saban brought another NC to LSU. He's a great coach, and the the feelings you guys are about to have for him pales in comparison, as at least he's not going to another in conference rival on you.

That's a good point. Give Smart a chance to see what he can do if you think he is the next in line.

Dead period starts on December 16 - I do not expect he will be announced as the new head coach at Texas (should he even be their final selection) until Monday or Tuesday, at the earliest.

It'll happen right after. AJ will be the first to know.

AJ: Coach, coach! Where are you going? The departures board says that the flight back to Tuscaloosa is leaving from gate A-19.

Saban: That's nice. I'll drop you off there on my way to A-41.

AJ: But...but...but...the board says that's where the flight to Austin departs.

Saban: Yep.
