because they want to continue winning. Sure, they'd like a guy who would stay, but if they still have ambitions to be a power5 school. they have to keep recruiting and winning.

I gotta feel for them. what successful coach is going to stay in a non power 5 conference?

I believe at the end of the day we will have a good pick for OC, whoever it is. I wish we could decide sooner rather than later, but it is what it is.

Houston needs a reality check on who they are

A commuter school with a regional fan base that plays in a shitty conference

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Kiffin got it. I don't see Miles being the pick there with their history of hiring Offensive Coordinators, and always being a high scoring team. But I've been wrong more times than right on my head coaching hunches. ??

Yeah. He's totally planning to be LSU's OC forever.

They're like a really good version of Tulane.

Yeah, i'm not buying Kiffin to LSU, but Saban has given him the stamp of approval so why would Kiffin go to UH ? I mean he has done very well at Bama so why even leave there for UH ?? seems to me he would stay at Bama and keep building up and taking a much better job then UF.
Something ain't right here because even could get a better job then UH right ?

The only reason they would take Miles would be that he almost at the end of the road to retirement and they know this would probably be his last job and wouldn't look to for another opportunity, where as Kiffin will jolt within 2 years for a power 5 job

If Houston wants to continue to compete at the level they have been then this is the absolute path they need to take with coaches. They are in the mid-tier and a stepping stone between the bottom and the top.

Pay just above average money to the future up and coming coaches, let them stay for a year or two, keep winning games, repeat the process when coach gets a big boy job.

$3m is about average for most P5 programs.

You must be one of the few people to have been rejected for admission into UH.

The streak is only at 1 but is this a bad thing? Briles, Sumlin, and Herman were huge for the program.

Is there much of a chance of Houston getting in the Big12?

If so, it would be a good time to get a (in)famous coach I guess.

I don't think Kiffin has ever proven himself to be a "winner" as a head coach. He went 4-7 in his last 11 games at USC before being canned as soon as his airplane touched down.

The only HC job he was not fired from was Tennessee. I think the only reason was because he got the hell out of dodge before he did something stupid to get fired.

he's not welcome back in Bama

he's a name coach who can recruit and coach offense, which is who they like to hire at HC

they will pay him $4-5M/year

Houston is a perfect spot for both Kiffin and Cougar High. Kiffin just has to decide if he wants to be LSU's OC for $2M/year or Houston's HC at like $4-5M/year and which will put him in a better position for a major job (i'd imagine Houston is, but i've been wrong before)
