The day AFTER Nick Saban signs a Contract renewal with Alabama would be one of the most depressing days of Nick Saban's life.

This is NOT a criticism of Alabama in any way. It is a reflection of the psychology of Nick Saban. When he signs, and ponders the REALITY that-THIS IS IT-a little part of him will die.

Nick Saban-The Lion In Winter.
NOT a role he was born to play.

He has every LOGICAL reason to stay.
He has every PSYCHOLOGICAL reason to start anew.

I don't know if Saban will leave. I don't even know if any of the rumors have a shred of truth to them.

What I do know is that if you're talking "psychology", the man has every reason to leave. It is obvious he likes to go "prove himself" places. At this point, Bama is a "been there, done that" thing.

That said, I don't really look at Texas as a place to "prove" much. I mean frick. Any half wit really should win regularly at Texas.

Truth be told, the most impressive thing Saban has done in his career is to resurrect LSU. If we're talking Psychology and proving himself, I'd think another good but not necessarily nationally storied school would be the right call.

He didnt leave the Dolphins to build a program. He wanted an established program that he could win championships with. There were other openings that year

Texas has the same MO that he saw in Bama

Yup, a coach whose actual accomplishments he could match or even surpass in 2 years.

Big shadow there.

FIFY!

And, yes, I fully realize that "A Psychotic Alabama Fan" is completely redundant.

When I ponder, "What are the psychological forces shaping Nick Saban's thinking processes?" I always turn to Forbes for an answer.

An observation from Wolfhound45?

Psychology don't pay the mortgage.

But I believe he is staying.

The only psychology that favors Saban staying at Alabama would be the "you think you know me but you don't" angle. He just might stay at Alabama to prove to everyone that he does possess a sense of loyalty and that money is not his foremost objective. Sure, he'd be reversing the psychology of his entire previous life, and would have to resign himself to living in Tuscaloosa for the rest of his professional days, but it's possible.

Behavioral & Cognitive Psych?

He only has the view of the public eye. So that's a huge discredit.

You want behavioral psych?

He walked out on LSU to go pro after claiming he was staying. Proves the point that the guy has no problem being misleading and plays his cards close to the chest.

Each person has three selves: SOCIAL, FAMILY and PROFFESIONAL.

Making a career move deals with all three. No way to predict what's going to happen. This guy is full of bullshite and he got some on you.
