He doesn't have a ton of experience as an OC and both of his OC stops were with head coaches that didn't need much help on the offensive side of the ball. What evidence is there that he could immediately ratchet up a weak offense at a program that has always favored defense?

Because he learned from one of the best and was around one of the best since birth.

This what I am thinking as well. Could work out as I think it would be a high ceiling/low floor move but add in the PR standpoint and I don't see them going this route.

Another example of tRant group-think.

It is a lot like their infatuation with Mawae for OL coach. They see the name over and over on the Rant and keep posting the same thing over and over.

why are we sooo gung ho for Briles and Freeze both have way too much baggage right now, and LSU has proven they cannot manage distractions or other HR situations off the grid...

Why doesn't O get this support? He's coached under some of the best.

well he has been pretty successful wherever he has been....and if you are not so sold on him...who is your pick that would be reasonably better?

What baggage does Briles have? i thought he had nothing to do with the sexual harassment situation at Baylor

Because O never had success as anything other than a DL coach. Fans were ecstatic to get O as DL coach.

Ppl are looking at Briles success in a similar capacity at a lesser organization.

Yurcich:

Yurcich Bio

quote:
• A 2016 nominee for the Broyles Award presented to the nation’s top assistant coach, Yurcich oversaw an Oklahoma State offense that was one of only two from the Power Five conferences to produce a 4,000-yard passer (Mason Rudolph), a 1,000-yard rusher (Justice Hill) and a 1,000-yard receiver (James Washington).

quote:
• Three of Yurcich’s four years in Stillwater have resulted in 10-win seasons for Oklahoma State and three of Yurcich’s four years at Oklahoma State have produced top-10 seasons for total offense in school history. The Cowboys ranked among the top 10 nationally in passing offense in 2015 and 2016.

quote:
• Yurcich has coached one of the nation’s most productive offenses since coming to Stillwater. In his four seasons with the Cowboys, OSU averages 36.2 points and 450.6 yards of total offense per game.

quote:
• Under Yurcich’s guidance, quarterback Mason Rudolph joined Brandon Weeden as the only two quarterbacks in Oklahoma State history with multiple 3,000-yard passing seasons, as Rudolph passed for 3,770 yards in 2015 and 4,091 yards in 2016.

quote:
From 2015 to 2016, there was a substantial uptick in the running game, as the Cowboys went from averaging 3.6 yards per carry and 126.8 yards per game in 2015 to averaging 4.5 yards per carry and 171.0 yards per game in 2016. Oklahoma State had two games of 200 yards rushing in 2015, but had five such games in 2016. Justice Hill led all FBS freshmen with 1,142 rushing yards in 2016.

• In 2015, the Cowboys ranked seventh nationally in passing offense, 14th nationally in scoring offense, 17th nationally in yards per completion and ninth nationally in red zone offense. Additionally, the Pokes ranked in the top 25 nationally in fewest fumbles lost, pass efficiency, total offense and fewest turnovers lost.

This is a fair point. His attraction is to run his Daddy's invented offense that he had exposure to. I like the offense, but I think the Daddy hid rape stain is too risky to hire.

This is what I don’t get. LSU shits the bed nonstop with PR leaks and airing their dirty laundry. Now they’re all of a sudden too high and mighty to hire the SON of Art. It’s not like they’re trying to hire Art himself.

If they were serious about winning then would hire the best person for the job. We win a natty and nobody gives a shite his last name is Briles

Briles is not coming

1) Kiffin wont release him. And he owes Kiffin

2) Joe "I even cut people loose over false allegations" Alleva, isn't hiring Briles or Freeze

3) No one wants to come here after watching the highest paid OC in the nation get shut down by O

4) Kiffin wants the LSU job**, and Briles coming here doesn't help that. He comes, when Kiffin comes

** And before you start your debate, look who plays for the NC Monday: SEC v SEC. So Kiffin wants back in the big time. Where at Bama, Auburn? No.

S. Car, UGA. Fla, Tenn, Moo St, Ole Miss, A&M, Arky? No, new coaches. Vandy, KY, Mizzou, LOL no.

So who is up next on the coaching carousel? LSU is his only target. Plus he knows Alleva will be gone, and not an obstacle

You want to win football games and have the program make money hand over fist? Or you want to “take the high road” and hire less talented coaches because they’re “good guys”?

Alleva shut an entire sport down over lies

So he IS NOT hiring a coach with a known history, that WILL get him fired if mistakes are repeated

Because all offenses he has been a part of has scored and both ran and passed the ball well. I know that sounds terrible

In a league with hardly any respectable defense at all.
