re: Why has the love fest for Jimbo cooled down so much?

Let's see...his offense has scored 45, 52, 20, 55, 35, and 20 points with a freshman QB. His defense is what is letting him down. His DC who helped him win a national championship moved on because FSU wouldn't give him a raise. The D has also routinely been picked apart in the draft like LSU has. He has beaten an Ole Miss team who everyone believes is a top 10 team. Yeah they got beat bad by Louisville but UL is a pretty damn good team and lost close to the team most people had picked to face Bama again in the NC. They lost close to a UNC team that was 11-3 last year and then beat the #9 team in Miami on the road. I still have Herman as my #1 choice, but Jimbo is a good coach and I would be proud if he was the next LSU coach. Plus he is a strong recruiter and if you can make EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder 1st round draft picks, you can coach QBs.

People tired of arguing with the Herman fanatics.

In part because of FSU's current mediocrity. Also in part because he doesn't seem interested in leaving FSU this year.

It's going to be the flavor of the day while switching daily

For me it just seems more complicated the more i think about it. I think his personal life is a wreck because his ex let several young dudes hit. On the other hand, how can he see he kids if his wife doesn't move to baton rouge? It seems having them around would be a key to a new start.
I still think he wants to come here, just trying to make it work.
If i knew we could have him or Herman I would just flip a coin. I think Herman might have more potential upside but is less proven, and I dont mind taking that gamble.

First off, horrible post.
Second off,

We really need to start banning the pro-Jimbo faction here.
If we can ban the pro-orgeron faction as well, I'll agreed to this.

This, thank goodness.

I think there are also a decent contingent of LSU fans who used to rail against Jimbo as LSU's OC who really hate to admit how wrong they were about him. Him winning a NC and a lot of games for FSU quiets malcontents for only as long as you continue to win. Once a loss or two hits they pop out of the shadows and start sniping.

Plenty of people would be ecstatic with jimbo as our hc.

If your standard is simply someone that can be Saban "into the ground" good luck with that.
I agree that it's a long shot, but your comment defines the whole appeal of Herman.
My response to the OP is the same; Herman could be the next Saban or Meyer, with Jimbo, even if he's been respectable, you already know he's not. It really boils down to if as a fan you're comfortable with risking it all on a boom or bust scenario with Herman or if you would rather be stable and safe with Jimbo. I don't think either is necessarily wrong, I've just seen what I believe is Jimbo's ceiling so hiring him wouldn't terrify or overly excite me.

exactly. I wouldn't be bummed out if he were hired but I just don't see Jimbo moving the needle much for us. I don't think the rest of the SEC would be very worried about LSU either with a Jimbo hire. PLus, to pull him away form Florida St would probably mean making him one of the, if not the , highest paid coach in college football. Which is going to be mighty embarrassing when we continue to play second or third fiddle to Bama in the SEC west.
Herman is an exciting boom or bust hire Herman plus LSU is a scary thought for the rest of the SEC.

He got lucky with Jameis. That's about it. He's an extremely mediocre coach.

This is a great point that no one is talking about.
Jimbo may think LSU is the greatest place on earth but he isn't leaving FSU for anything less than 7 mil a year and an ungodly buyout. At that point he will be untouchable for at least 3 years, yet if he has a season like he's having right now there will be a massive outcry to fire him.

Nice of you to drop in and let us know Jimbo's price, Jimmy. I would assume you must be Jimmy Sexton to say that with such certainty.
