How many coaches from UH is A&M going to hire?

This would be the second. So either one or two depending on what happens

Why risk having a shitty 2016 and sending the program even deeper into the ditch, after opening a new stadium?

a bad season does not kill a program. I really don't get why fans think this. Like say the wheels come off next year and the go 3-9 like Auburn did in 2012. They fire the coach and have time to do more through search/interview process and if they hire the right guy things can turn around quick (see Auburn 2013, LSU 2000, OU 2000, OSU 2002 etc). What sends a program down is not keeping a coach too long, it is the constant turnover if you make a bad hire imo. A&M might be a case study in that. Sherm did recruit a lot of talent, including JFF and Evans.

wut? Just making it to an access bowl is like winning the NC there. He just won the conference, has pretty much everyone coming back and a monster recruiting class (for UH). I realize he won't stay there another 10 years, but losing the Peach Bowl, even badly will not make him leave, come on man. He can afford to wait for the right job, (what ever that is for him) and improve as HC. His stock will not go down next year, much more likely to only go up.

Yeah, but what about Sumlin?

I think it would be smart for A&M to finally hire a coach from Houston that has won a conference championship.

Sumlin's buyout is $5 million per year for every year left on his contract. He is not going anywhere.

only similarity with sumlin and herman is coaching at the same school. sumlin inherited briles' talent and had kingsbury and holgerson as his oc's. herman inherited talent from a nobody, and osu's offense took a hit as soon as he left columbus.

I dont follow OSU enough to say w/any certainly but the talent level at Houston was excellent. They didn't fire Levine b/c he was having trouble getting kids who could play.

Basically, if Sumlin was fired, Texas A&M would be paying around 9 million a year for the head coaching position: 5 for Sumlin's buyout, and 4 more for an up and comer. Are you really going to pay 9 million a year for a Head Coach, especially when your Defensive coordinator is making 1.5 million AND his contract is also separate from that of the head coach.

They're still paying for Mack Brown, Deloss Dodds, and Steve Patterson's buyouts.

????

DeLoss Dodds retired. No buyout.

Are you a carrot-top? Because you sure have TEXAS on the brain.

That's right, I forgot. He retired effective 8 months after he stepped down, so he was still being paid to do nothing until the end of August 2014.

He's helping to call the shots again, btw.

He was at Perrin's press conference.

And why not? He's one of the most powerful and most respected college athletics administrators ever.

and the man who single-handedly marginalized your program (unless you count Plonsky in there as well) by getting so horribly outmaneuvered by a short guy in a bowtie that you lost your stranglehold on the narrative in the state, laying your dirty laundry for everyone to see.

Keep saying that. Be patient, grasshopper.

You ****s were so sure that you'd blow past TEXAS in revenue by now, but you're still $70 million behind the Longhorns.

Seventy-fricking-million dollars.

$180 million vs. $110 million.

Insert Robert DeNiro cackling gif.

A&M is at risk of giving back all of the gains it has made relative to UT.

Let's try adding in expenses then comparing actual profits.

Here, let me help you:

If the 2014 numbers are any indication, your expenses totaled almost 96% of your revenue.

$180 million - $172.8 million = $7.2 million in profit

A&M's expenses totaled about 80% of revenue.

$110 million - $88 million = $22 million in profit.

So basically, our athletic department is over 3 times as profitable as yours is.

Last comparison of revenue and expenses put TEXAS in the red by $2.5 million.

Wow! Two million dollars out of nearly $200 million!

Their cash reserves are about $40 million, last I saw.

Keep shadow-boxing, agroid.
