Every time his name comes up, I see a tidal wave of downvotes and groaning. A lot of it isn't just thinking that there are better candidates, but instead, outright instinctive revulsion.

Realistically, what is your issue with him being a coaching candidate?

Is it his experience?

Is it his record of wins and losses?

Recruiting?

Offensive system?

Off field issues?

Personality?

What is it specifically that rubs you the wrong way?

I don't. He's my first choice.

Way more mature than Herman.

If he were coaching any other college right now, they wouldn't care.

Maybe due to fans proclaiming that he's the only choice. But question... why do you love Billy Napier?

I just feel weirded out seeing people on this board and the media pump him up as though he’s going to be the favorite to get the job before we even know if Woodward has actually zeroed in on anybody. It just reeks of 2016 all over again in that regard.

Because he rushed for like 380 yards and won by one point last night. Because he doesn’t have a philosophy that Buries the other team.

Because he strikes me as someone who is having success in a place that hasn’t but I’m not sure when he got to the ranks of the elite he’d have any real selling points.

He is just a blah hire. He is a chick who has a nice body and a decent face but you just know she hasn’t really F’d yet.

They feel that because it's ULL, that somehow that is beneath LSU.

Its retarded, as most drama is here.

Nah that’s just your projection on things. You may have some ull lsu thing but for others it’s because it’s just a stale cracker.

you’re going to have some loud people that wanna better résumé. There are some that don’t like the Louisiana Lafayette connection, but I think mostly what it comes down to is that people want someone with a better résumé. And I don’t blame them. I personally believe if we hire Billy Napier, it will be because they got to him on the list. So we roll with it.

This isn't happening because anybody hates him.

There just happens to be a certain faction of this board who are being creepy with the Saban comparisons, and proclaiming the job is already his. It's rather off-putting.

No hate

Sun Belt + constant promoting + last night

I don't deal in assuming people's motives, so I won't get into the "One of Us" thing - but if there's that, then maybe there's that

I sort of feel this way as well. I hate when it feels like all the local media outlets are all pushing one guy. I sort of feel this way about Tucker though. So not really just one guy.

I don’t hate Napier. I just prefer LSU aim higher. Just a different preference, but definitely don’t hate him.

What’s funny to me is one group claims he is hated because he is at ULL. Yet another group says that group only wants him because he is at ULL.

The main question is why should we hire that dude? There’s more reason for concerns with him than most of the coaches on the so called “list”. He’s the coach at ULL for gods sake and has beaten nobody worth mentioning. Running ULL and running LSU are not the same. I don’t dislike Napier. I wouldn’t hate the hire only if the other 10 more capable coaches ahead of him said no. There’s just too many more qualified coaches that i trust more than freaking Billy Napier. And it’s true, if he coached anywhere else other than ULL none of you would even know who the fukk he is nor would you be mentioning him. People act like getting an offer from South Carolina warrants the opportunity to coach possible a top 4 program in the country.

Because I'm still not sold on him. He doesn't have a big quality win on his resume that tells me he can out coach another team to victory. UL games this year have been close except for a loss to UT, and a win against App State. I feel as if he is another Les Miles, which relies on just having the better athletes to win games, instead of out coaching. You can point out his win/loss all you want, but as people keep saying, "Its the Sunbelt." That argument works both ways.

Id rather persue a coach who has had success at a high level p5 school.

If we strike out a few times, i wont be upset about napier, hes a great 2nd tier candidate.
