Why did Maryland fire the Fridge?

I was just looking at his 75-50 record at Maryland and they have touched that kind of success since he left.

Because he snuck into people houses at night and ate all the chips

Fridge had a similar situation to Tom O'Brien (at BC) and, ironically, Mark Richt.
There was success, but never enough, and the program grew stale. Maryland probably thought they could bring someone in who could easily replicate Fridge's success. I think they were wrong.
I've watched Fridge run the Rutgers offense for the past 2 years. The man is great at what he does. If LSU had the Friedgen offense, they'd be damned near unbeatable, IMO.

That's what I thought. I guess they thought they were better than they really are.

They let all of that Under Armour money go to their head.
Look who they tried to hire, Dungy, Gruden, Chip Kelly.
I mean those are huge names that would turn down most Blue Blood jobs.
Delusional as hell

It was dumb.
Supposedly Franklin was going to replace him when he retired if he got his wish.
They gave up 2 good solid coaches for an a-hole who's best achievement was 8-5 at UCONN

O'Brien did not get fired at BC he left on his own. He got fired from NC State.

I live in Maryland, and it had to do with:
1. Attendance at the games was dropping. Since he was fired, it's gotten worse.
2. The offense wasn't an exciting "new age" spread. The team was a little dour at times.
3. Instead of celebrating the Orange Bowl success, the UMD fan-base started to expect that type of performance. Instead of judging him in the eyes of a 7-5 program (which is what that program is), they judged him as if he was coaching a powerhouse.

If I remember this correctly, it was a mutual parting. Both sides felt that it was time for them to move on.
You're right, though - he wasn't fired, and it was sloppy for me to imply that he was.
Of course, thinking of O'Brien makes me think of his replacement, Jeff Jagodzinski, and makes me wonder if he wouldn't prefer to leave Georgia State for a bigger job as an OC...

blood sugar issues not in line and his body fat % is not in line to be a top notch assalete

Same reason people want to fire Miles.
His 1st 3 years were awesome (10+ wins), then he never replicated that success by losing at least 4 games every year and never winning his division.

Gary Williams was fired too, and he had a NC.
