What jobs would Lane Kiffin even be intersted in?

There is a fallacy that Lane Kiffin is a job jumper. Lets look at the facts.
Lane Kiffin's Coaching career since 2001
01-04 USC position coach
05-06 USC OC
07-08 Raiders HC
09 Tennessee HC
10-13 USC HC
14-16 Alabama OC
17-19 FAU HC
20 - Present Ole Miss HC
So he left USC to be an NFL head coach. He never wanted to draft JaMarcus Russell. Al Davis forced it down his throat. It went bad and he was fired.
He then took over at Tennessee. Had a decent first year and a great recruiting class. But his dream job came open.
He left to go to USC. After he took the job the NCAA brought down a far harsher punishment than was expected. 3 years later he was fired on the tarmac.
He then helped Saban modernize his offense.
Took over FAU and won 2 conference titles.
Then took over Ole Miss where he is the 4th longest tenured coach in the conference.
So lets look at jobs that can pay more than his 9M salary and are noticably better jobs than OM.
Bama - Possible after Saban retires but doubt the boosters would be on board.
UGA - Kirby is there for a while
Texas - Sark is rolling
Oklahoma - Venables seems safe.
USC - Not going back there
Oregon - Lanning is there until Bama or UGA opens up
Ohio St - seems like an unlikely fit.
Michigan - seems like an unlikely fit
FSU - Possible if Norvell leaves
Miami - Possible because he likes the Miami area.
Florida - Don't know if they will pay a coach 10M+ but possible.
LSU - possible but Kelly seems to be moderately safe.
That is really it. The idea that Kiffin is trying to get every job out there just isn't true. He left Tenn for his dream job. The rest of his career is no different than anyone else.

You forgot LSU on your list, but it’s also not open, so your point stands.

I think you've got this about right.
If UCLA wasn't a complete mess I would put them on the list only because he'd be closer to his kids (I think one goes to OM?) and already lives in Manhattan Beach for a chunk of the year, but that's a dead end job right now.

To me, this seems like the perfect fit. I know we've seen this movie before: Kiffin leaves the SEC for L.A.
But he's a different coach and person than he was back then. He's a California guy. He could solve all of UCLA's problems: he's good with NIL, he's great in the transfer portal, he's good with boosters, he's a promoter, he's got the L.A. vibe, he would get buzz in the L.A. media, he would get students excited, he wouldn't be overshadowed by Lincoln Riley, etc.
If I was UCLA, I would do everything I could to make this happen.

Napier, a relatively unproven commodity at the time, got 7.1MM per year out the gate. I'd be hard pressed to think Florida would lose a bidding war to Ole Miss if they really wanted Lane.

I wish he would’ve wanted the LSU job this last time it was open.

Remember all the "Lane Kiffin is literally sucking Scott Woodward's dick for the LSU job" threads two seasons ago? I do.

I'm getting downvotes and not even sure what for. Tennessee fans I guess.

Completely agree with everything you said about him. People somehow get his Tennessee and USC stops all messed up on this board though. He was getting a train started at Tenn and USC came calling. He mistakingly went into a bad situation.
My only complaint with him is his in-game play calling the few games I've watched. He has some very questionable calls like he is playing a video game out there. Also, his Twitter shite is childish as hell for someone in his position. Although I voted for a president who acts like an arse on Twitter

Is it really moreso than Ole Miss? Kiffin is always going to be fighting an uphill battle for recruits in the SEC. Just too much competition fighting for players in Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, etc. And with Texas and OU coming into the fold next season the struggle to reach the playoffs (even a 12 team playoff) is going to be tougher.
Ole Miss cares about football 10x, 20x, 30x more than UCLA (or so it seems). But it is hard to deny the opportunity that could potentially exist there. California has many great players. Particularly QBs. Plus, while Oxford is a great little town, L.A. is a much more attractive destination for 17-18 young men. There isn't built in fanaticism for college football at UCLA. But I think the right guy could bring energy there (a la Pete Carroll). Finally, the new Big 10 doesn't necessarily seem quite as daunting for a program like UCLA as the new SEC will be for Ole Miss.
If UCLA is serious about trying to compete, I think Kiffin would definitely listen

Not sure your definition of moderately safe.

Every job but the one he has.

Not just the boosters or the BOT but I don't want him anywhere near Tuscaloosa county. He is not a Bama level head coach. Gonna get Lane you might as well bring back Bill Curry.

Do you honestly believe he wouldn't have taken the LSU job if it had been offered to him? Every time he steps in front of a microphone he bitches about how hard it is to recruit at Ole Miss, and he's right.

He's not a Michigan Alum. Automatic disqualifier.

But I understand that LSU fans are shite at reading so I'll give you a pass. Had LSU offered him the job as well as the appropriate amount of money(Only Lane could answer how much it would have taken), I'm sure there would be interest at the very least.
