What is Jimbo's connection to LSU besides O coordinator?

He isn't from Louisiana and never went to school here. I know he coached here before but why is Jimbo leaving another Power 5 school, where he recently won a championship, for LSU? Is LSU that much of a better job/pay raise than FSU? Has he ever stated in the past that LSU was a dream job?

I'm just trying to understand why he would leave FSU for LSU (besides his wife banging a former Gator football player and going through a divorce)?

You should always know someone's motivation for a job before hiring them. I just want to know what is driving this decision from Jimbo's perspective. On the face of things, it would appear he is making a lateral move unless other motivations are involved

Know who else isn't from Louisiana?

Bill Arnsparger
Mike Archer
Charles McClendon
Curley Hallman
Gerry Dinardo
Nick Saban
Les Miles

Pretty much every head coach LSU has ever had. Where you're from doesn't matter. Money and chances to win championships do.

Jimbo isn't from Florida; he is from West Virginia. So what is the connection to Florida State? Coaches know when they get in this profession they will move multiple times looking for the next opportunity. There are no more Joe Paterno's out there.

Jimbo coached here for 7 seasons. Probably has a lot of friends here. Probably knows he will get along with LSU Admin better than FSU Admin. He has an opportunity to return to the SEC, which is the premier conference.

That there was a negative 1000 percent chance that Jimbo is coming

you're exaggerating there. Ive always maintained it would be about money. That Jimbo would need a big raise to move, and that in the end FSU will match LSUs offer to keep him.

However, what ive been mainly arguing against is the notion that he would come to LSU just because he wanted to coach in the SEC. There have been a bunch of people on here that claims that is his only motivation "because he loves LSU!!!!!!"

We shall see. Do I think it will work out? Still have major doubt. You see rumors about LSU offerinng $7mil a year and FSU backing out. They could feel comfortable about landing someone like Chip Kelly which would make it easier to let Jimbo walk. In that case the move would make a lot more sense.

I would be disappointed with Kelly. I don't think we would ever feel like he was long term for some reason. I also have doubts if he would be successful in the SEC. IMO

Jimbo Fisher wants to hire brother for Florida State's staff

quote:

Fisher told CBSSports.com he's aware of university nepotism policies designed to block potential conflicts of interest and has considered discussing possibilities with FSU about his brother joining FSU football.

"I would love to have him down here if they can get around this nepotism law somehow, someway. I'm thinking about it seriously," Fisher said. "I'd like to have him in the organization because he knows it so well."

quote:

Fisher sends Bryan film cutups during the season and the two talk football 2-3 times per week because Jimbo respects Bryan's perspective on the game. The Fishers were graduate assistants together at Auburn.

"I'm very close with my brother," Fisher said.

He's said its a special place. Probably feels more comfortable here and LSU is still as big of a football school around.

So if he's uncomfortable with where he is at and there is a need at a place he is very comfortable with.. Why not leave? He's been dragged down with recent negative reports about the FSU program.. The rape crap etc.. This is a great opportunity for him.

Don't discredit what someone else may envision or want..

Has Jimbo ever been courted by NFL teams. Has he ever mentioned dreaming of coaching at next level.

If he comes in and we thrive it may present him that opportunity. Do we get Fiaher until he retires?
