Texas guys, is that Jesus Shuttleworth dude legit with his sources or is he unreliable?
He's been solid. He definitely has some legit sources. I've kept up with him and Eric Nahlin's recruiting info for a few years now.

On a side note, look for Major Applewhite to possibly make a lateral move to be OC at Florida. He and Muschamp are very tight. Major well respected as a coach and gets a lot of credit for the success of UT this year despite some major injuries on the offensive side of the ball.
God help Muschamp. Major has underwhelmed - but I can see Major spinning it to Will that it was due to Mack's meddling. Will, of all people, would understand and believe it.
Don't look for him to get a very positive recommendation from his former boss, Nic Saban.

What people are saying is that Auburn and Alabama can match reasonable offers from Texas. If Texas offers Gus 4 or 4.5 million, Auburn can match that. Same for if they offer Saban 6 or 6.5 million. I don't know how high either program is willing to go, but they certainly can. They could match even higher, but I think these are about the limits. Paying 5 million plus is stupid money for Gus. 6-8-10 million for Saban isn't that impossible, but it would be absurd for Gus or any other coach at that level, and it would test what programs are willing to do.
So the point is, if Texas is going to give Saban money for Gus, then yeah, they'll probably get him assuming he cares at all about money. They might get Saban if you're talking 8 or 10 million a year.
Auburn and Alabama, and pretty much any other SEC team can match the market rate for any coach. Money is the issue, but it is only the issue in this situation because Gus wants more and Auburn is going to have to pay more.
That's it. If Auburn pays Gus at the market rate of $3.5-5.5 million, be will stay. It is true that the longhorns have made some really bad decisions over the last 3-4 years. Overpaying for Gus will not likely be one of them.

My favorite posts are the ones by LSU fans psychoanalyzing Saban and acting like their fans are the only ones who know what makes him tick.
He's been at Alabama almost twice as long as he was at LSU. I think Alabama fans have a good handle on what Saban is like.
I, personally think this is all for nothing because I'm not convinced Mack Brown is out of a job yet.

The faculty has already rumbled about Brown getting $5 million
what a lot of football fans, esp. non alums don't understand is that a lot of the university leaders, faculty and admin and even trustees really don't give much of a shite about football. sure they hope their school wins but certainly care far more about the academic reputation of the university ON A NATIONAL SCALE. imo, the university of texas will not outbid for saban. I would like to see them frick bama boosters up with a run at it tho.

Malzahn would be perfect... he realizes auburn isn't a final stop job. There's no stability there for him long term, and he will never have the complete control he wants (thanks to boosters) at Auburn.
Malzahn has more control than anybody I've seen at Auburn.

So you think your boosters have no say in who is hired around alabama athletics? Seriously?
