when you have a program like he has at Bama why would you have to negative recruit. I am not saying it has not happened but I would think it would not be a general practice.

With all due respect, part of " getting a program like bama has" requires pushing the envelope and being very creative to find any competitive advantage that exists. Part of that is aggressive recruiting, which entails many many things. Sabotaging your opponent is part of it. That's the reality.

Nobody said saban is going to hell for it. He's not. He's going to hell for other reasons

Rumors is he could be close to taking the Florida DC job. Sorry no link, but its on a Florida board.

Obviously he leaves for a promotion at some point. But your motives with this thread are obvious.

He is the main recruiter for alot of Bama's recruits.

And that matters why? Najee Harris may be the only one it would truly matter with. But Sarkisian has a good relationship too.

The Tosh to Bama rumors are on the paid websites as well. Op isn't pulling this out of no where. It originated on a Bama paid site and has caught on like wildfire on Florida and LSU boards.

The problem with the rumor is Lupoi is already a Co-DC. He's not going to Florida to co-coordinate with Shannon. And sure as hell isnt going to just be a position coach.

Well there you have it folks. I don't know about yall, but I'm now 100% convinced BOL made it all up if Saban says so.

Saban isn't stupid. Negative recruiting does yourself more harm than good. Bama doesn't need to use that tactic. Nor does LSU. Also, it's easier for a good recruiter to be a great recuiter when he's selling a program like Bama or LSU.

Besides, the media does enough speculation about coaching changes that recruiters don't really even need to mention it in the form of negative recruiting.

The school and program, along with the HC, OC & DC, trump lower-level staff recruiters. If you're good on those fronts, you're not so likely to lose recruits because a staff member gets hired away to a higher level job. How many recruits did Bama lose because Kiffin left?

I thought the same thing when I first heard the rumors.

Maybe UF is offering playcalling duties. Lets be honest, the Co-DC title is just excuse to pay a position coach more. Maybe it is a chance to run his own defense instead of Saban's.

Just because Saban says he doesn't condone negative recruiting that doesn't mean it isn't happening. The Bama staff are all great recruiters. It's mostly positively selling Bama along with turning kids against other programs. Let's not be naive.

exactly, negative recruiting isn't just walking into a kid's house and saying "sark is a drunk." negative recruiting is selling your program in the best light and informing players of the faults of other programs as delicately as possible.
