Recruiting relationships are built over time.
He needs a whole year to get after these kids and sell Texas.

It's why LSU's class has stayed pretty much intact.
Herman probably would have lost a lot more commitments from LSU's class had he gotten job than O will this year.

Fanbase is deadset in only wanting to give O time.

Who has basically held a really good recruiting class together.

I'm guessing you don't get much news out there in your trailer park or you would have known this.

UT is a toxic atmosphere. The university has allowed big boosters to dip their hands way too far into the athletic program. There are stories of big money guys interrupting practices and other really strange goings on. I don't know the extent of all of this, but I've heard this from pro-Texas people who believed Strong was doomed from the start.

I may catch flack for this, but I'll say it anyway. There are also stories that alot of the Texas big money didn't like Strong...Because of racial undertones(I'd like to believe this isn't true, but I'm not naive either).

Strong is a really good coach, much better than what was seen at UT. Maybe Herman won't have the same obstacles

Yeah, but he can recruit... rabble rabble rabble. LSU has never had problems recruiting, the question is can he be an elite head coach.

Yeah, but he's been average ever since.

I think Herman changing jobs but staying in the same state is what's hurting him right now. Telling kids to come to Houston and then no nevermind I'm changing jobs come to Austin instead.

well, he was promoted from with in the staff and not hired from another school. He was also the fricking RECRUITING Coordinator the last year. Given he was never a DC and had a horrible record as a HC but was known as a great recruiter, he better have held together the class.

I'm thinking he is recruiting a higher class of recruit to Texas. He recruited some big names to Houston, but he still had to be realistic.

Les Miles won a NC at LSU and I wouldn't categorize him as elite. Eaux doesn't have to be elite, just have elite coordinators and recruit them the best players which he's doing a fine job at. It's all Miles had to do but he was just too damn stubborn.

Houston likely wasn't recruiting the same caliber of player as he needs to sign at Texas, at least in great quantity

But they were likely recruiting the same schools. Now instead of going after the 3rd or 4th best guy at one of the big time high schools, they can talk to the same coach they've built a relationship with and go after the top guy.

There are a few Texas powerhouses that put out multiple P5 recruits every year.

That's what the Texas fans thought. A few of the many negative quotes from the UT 24/7 board that are available for anyone to read. They say he is whiffing on players who were committed to him at Houston.

O was already firmly entrenched as a primary recruiter for LSU when he got the HC job. Tom Hermans situation is completely different.

Tom Herman is the best thing to happen to humanity since sliced bread and Nick Saban. He can't even get players who had already committed to him at Houston? What happened?
