I don't know how anyone can believe that story - from "sources" - and accept it as gospel.
Herman is the "dream coach" LSU boosters have been salivating over all season. The same guys who had $15MM for Les' buyout ready to go in a day last year. He's also being pursued by a school with a $20,000,000,000 endowment. Did Alleva think he was going to take Dan Mullen money?

Herman has a long way to go to prove he's worth a long term contract of $6 million per year so LSU acted sensibly.
I don't care what Herman asked for because it was just a leverage point to get more from Texas. He wasn't coming to LSU and have to face Bama, Auburn, Florida, etc every year when he can face TCU, a gutted Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas and the rest of that shitty conference.

The price of a competent coaching staff is the same regardless of whether its given to assistants or head coaches.

That's a lot of money for a head coach with that experience but the price of head coaches is really high now. I believe Arkansas gave Bert 4+ million a year and coach Mac got around 3.5 million a year plus UF had to pay his 5+ million dollar buy out option on his contract. By not hiring Herman LSU will have t pay more for an OC and DC.

Maybe the only thing Alloser has done that I agree with. $6 mil for an 8-4 AAAAAAC (or whatever conference it is) coach? Pass.

No way Herman or Jimbo deserve Saban money. I hate the O hire, but that is a lot of money for coaches who don't have a resume near Saban's
