Again, LSU was not willing to pay. Never was. They wanted to create the illusion that they are serious.

$6M is not too much. The opportunity cost of paying $6M for Herman is having to pay $3M to O and $4M to Kiffin and Aranda. With Herman, LSU wouldn't have to pay $2M for an offensive coordinator.

I could see 4 million. Herman hasn't won anything yet and is already demanding 6 million? That's fricking insane. He's only been a head coach for two years. You don't just pay someone that kind of money when you really don't have a full picture of what you're getting. Yes, he was successful at Houston but it's not like you're hiring someone that has already ran a big program and had success. That's a lot of money for a someone that would be going into their third season as a head coach. I don't like the Orgeron hire but Jimbo wanted a 10 year contract and Herman wants more money than he's proved he's worth. There's other coaches we probably should have talked to but they apparently wanted Orgeron so that's what we got.

LSU isn't saving much money though. LSU is about to pay an offensive coordinator more than 2 million dollars.
