How many times does this need to be stated? I guess it's more fun to assume it all has to do with the coaching search.

And a loss to any of those teams does not affect your conference record, and hence does decrease your chances of reaching Atlanta. Now do you see the difference?

i wouldn't be mad about bob stoops getting hired here. he has a hell of a time trying to scheme around weak oline and dlines some years. it's not that easy to recruit those positions at ou.

most people are too stupid, except for Au, to send a plane to interview a coach during the season.

I don't really want stoops but in no way shape or form is ou even on the same level of job as ours. They are below us in almost every category.

How? LSU has better facilities, a superior stadium, way more instate talent and that is not even close, along with playing in the SEC. GET REAL!

but ou won some titles in the 60s and 70s. that is the only thing they have is LSU didn't go buck wild claiming bullshite titles so we only have 3. LSU beats the shite out of ou in every metric besides history. Which even then LSU is still a top 10 historical team.

you may have some valid points but OK has a lot more natties and they are not in the SEC W. They have an easier route to the final 4 then any team in the SEC W.

If these 6 jobs were open and Tom Herman was the number one on all 5 schools wish list, where does he decide to go

USC, Mi. OSU, Bama, LSU, and Texas.

we have a 2 national titles that are much newer than OU. also we discussed this in depth when we fired miles that using titles from the 30s and such is a stupid way to say one job is better than the other. The only school it is even relevant at all is BAMA since y'all have consistently won. Every other school has a decade where they dominate and then they fade and just hang out.

the sec west thing is stupid, top coaches aren't fricking pussies. I don't know why people think that top coaches are some pussies that run from challenges but they don't.

Saban didn't stay at mich state because he was scared of coming to the sec when the ole ball coach was raping people.

LSU can pay more than ou, we have better recruiting in state and our radius is better, we play in a more stable conference even though the commissioner is a fricking clown.

I don't know anything about their facilities but its not likely they are better than ours. LSU beats them down in every possible way outside of history.

you did not answer my last question about which school would he pick. A great coach is going to pick the path that helps him get to the final 4 easier. Bobby Bowden admitted they did not try to join the SEC during the expansion as he knew he could get to a natty at FSU easier.

That's all I've ever heard. Don't get me wrong, having 7 NC's is a HUGE accomplishment, and LSU isn't even close to that, but when it comes to the current coaching position, I don't see OU being any better than LSU. When recruiting this day and age, kids don't care about what happened in the 50, 70s, and 80s.

I don't know where Herman would go, all the jobs are elite. We already know LSU, BAMA, Texas all have no problem paying whatever it takes. Bama currently pays nick the most, Texas offered like 10 million, and LSU originally made him and even Les Miles the highest paid coach in football and had the highest paid staff. Michigan proved they will pay as well. I will assume that Tosu has no problem paying. USC is probably the only school that has the bank but not the stomach to pay what the others would.

As discussed in the other thread way back when this board opened its more like these top jobs are in tiers. Anyone that doesn't think LSU is tier 1 is likely a retard. when you start to look at facts that matter such as money, recruiting, resources, facilities, and such then LSU is elite.

Herman has cali ties, texas ties, has coached at Tosu and has friends at LSU.

so I would think based on that michigan and bama would be behind those in just Tom Hermans case.

USC is currently a mess and their admin is unproven. I don't know much about what they have as a support group to maybe offset admin incompetence.

Texas: they are down but I think Herman would have zero problem turning them around.

TOSU: clearly in the best spot currently, the only issue is we know urban likes to get lazy at some point and then have his chest start hurting when its time to rebuild.

LSU: we have Aranda, who Herman likely keeps since they are friends. Our admin is fairly weak but they will give you resources and we have the TAF.

Im not Tom Herman though so i don't know what he values or is looking for. I do know that he would chose any of the jobs you listed over OU though because they are all better than OU.

Also like discussed before going over all of this is silly since not all those jobs will be open at the same time.

at most LSU will be open, Texas is possible and then even less likely USC being open.

Texas is probably a 50/50 shot of being open. I don't think USC is since they just hired Helton.

I do think whoever ends up with Herman wont worry about him leaving for another top program, but maybe the NFL.

However i will say objectively Texas would be the top of the tier 1 jobs based on they have the biggest bank, they are the most profitable school in the ncaa, the recruiting in state is enough to really not have to leave at all. They also completely run their conference. Once he makes his decision though i don't see him going from LSU to Texas, or Texas to USC or whatever it is.

People get so caught up on a programs history. The landscape has changed. When evaluating programs the first thing you do is evaluate the resources that are available. OU is a harder job and program to maintain now.

Now OU has a better history but they do not have the resources that LSU has to be a better program.

OU, Nebraska, Notre Dame are not the jobs they used to be.
