BelowPar said Miles had or would at the least make contact with Leach. Nothing imminent and nothing for certain.

Thanks. Can't see the two philosophies jiving very well, but you never know. Honestly, I'd like to see someone different as OC with a little innovation and developing of quarterbacks.

I could see him adapting more running into his system, with the talent at LSU. I think he would employ a similar offense to what the Saints run. Would be a great hire IMO.

For those saying his offense wouldn't work at LSU, Malzhan and Meyer seem to have done pretty well with their "gimmicky" offenses. Not to mention, Petrino runs something similar at Arky, and that seems to be working out pretty well.

I'd more worried about how he'd fit in as an assistant. He seems to be a wild card with a big ego who will pretty much say anything. Can he just show up and do his job, and not be detrimental to the staff as a whole?

I don't think that anyone will hire him until his legal problems are solved.

I agree with you and have my concerns as well. I just think he aspires to be a head coach again, and he knows having success at a high profile school like LSU would be a major springboard to this. Chances are, it'll only be for a couple of years. So, I think he knows another screw up could cost him any chance at becoming a HC at a big time program.

If he's a pirate of the grass eating kind, it'll be all good

Leach's offence can flat out score some points, and with our defence were back in the big dance next year.  Miles knows a change has to be made to compete in the sec west so why not go after the best. And on a plus side it will given espn a reason to hate us. Lol

It's probably too late for that. Anyway he has an ego and he thinks he got screwed, so I can't see him just walking away.

Leachs offense will run as much as the defense dictates it to run. 99% of his runs are called from audibles that the QB makes at the line.

It's efficient and it scores points. We have superior talent at WR to just about everyone in the nation.. may as well use it.

Considering Miles likes to meddle in the offense and calls plays I cant see a guy of Leachs calibar coming here.

What sort of potentially "legit" info did Belowpar post? I'm not trying to be a wiseguy, but I don't know what he said. Please provide some info

He said Miles was going to contact Leach about possibly becoming LSU OC. He also said Kragthorpe would be on Miles's list. Miles is definetley looking around for a new OC. Whether a move is to be made is yet to be determined.

I don't know shite. I have no insider contacts. But with the Michigan shite about to go down, and seemingly several other big jobs having the possibility of opening, this board is going to get extremely interesting soon. This is gunna be good.

Leach does not fit what we are trying to do on offense or vise versa. Additional coaches would be needed to come in who understand his system so we would probably need to replace most of the offensive staff. Most of the position coaches in this particular system have played or coached for years before moving up to programs like Arizona, Texas Tech. Tuberville is a prime example of a coach who would not implement position coaches that understood their spread system. I don't see Miles replacing coaches to suite Leachs needs.

You are evidently very close to how college football works, so I'd appreciate if you would help me out on this.
How much/often does Miles meddle?
Is it not allowed for a head coach to meddle?
Does any other coach meddle?
Is meddling confined to strictly the offense or does the defense come into play too? Does Saban, for instance, meddle in the defensive play calls?

Thank you.

IF Leach were to come to LSU as OC, I believe it would only signal that Miles is feeling the heat from somewhere. Miles and Leach don't seem like a fit, but if Miles feels that he has to improve the offense in 2011, then he may be willing to let go of his style and turn the offense over to a guy like Leach. If Miles doesn't feel like he is under the gun, there is no way I see him making an OC hire that is a complete 180 from his offensive philosophy.

What kind of offense did he run at Okie St?
