fortunately for Ray there's already heavy influence on behalf of the Gamecocks locally in Houston.

I forgot about McNair. I don't know how it all works, but how would he be involved in trying to bring Herman here?

Few updates from 247:

quote:

-Here’s a new name to keep under your hat for the second-tier- TCU co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham. His name was passed along by a college coaching industry (i.e. agent) source. Also in the second tier: Will Muschamp and Rich Bissacia.

quote:

-Do not count out Texas head coach Charlie Strong in this. I’ve been told he’s a guy to continue to keep an eye on, perhaps even right behind clubhouse leader Tom Herman. It’s unlikely that he is the next coach of the Gamecocks, but he’s going to listen to USC athletics director Ray Tanner at the very least if he’s the target.

I had him as my #1 choice as OC in the event that we get Smart as HC in the thread on our board.

That'd be a hell of a jump from 2 seasons as TCU OC to SEC HC.

Yes, but he was also the WR/TE Coach at Okie St for 7 years and produced a lot of NFL talent. He runs Mike Gundy's offense style. He would make an elite SEC OC, but I don't know if he's any better than the Tier 1 HC candidates right now.

One candidate is making a lot of noise for the VT job.

quote:

I have learned that as of today, Fuente could be called the leading candidate with Morris No. 2.

Fuente's style of coaching, emphasis on player development and evaluations and dynamic, versatile offense that combines elements of power with quick strike capability would be a great fit for the Hokies. As one source put it- "he fits the DNA of the program that (current and retiring head coach) Frank Beamer built". I could not agree more.

Shouldn't surprise anyone, but Tom Herman's interest in South Carolina is described as "lukewarm."

Good luck on the search, South Carolina. On a positive note though, you can't do worse than our incompetent AD...

I'm sure the Alabama DC will be the South Carolina head coach.

I'm hearing Tom Herman (Houston) has an offer on the table to replace #Spurrier at South Carolina. Ok, scramble.... Now!

This one's kinda funny...ol' Bubba getting a jump on things by following the next HC of Carolina on Twitter:

ETA: Forgot to mention that the rumored offer on the table is $4.3 mill with unlimited funds for assistants and recruiting.

That's what was said. Don't ask me...I know we're serious about building this program, but dayum. I imagine there had to be some clause (ceiling) left out of that statement. But then...how do you put a ceiling on unlimited?

Herman's buyout alone is 2.25 mill. Combine that with the 4.3 that's supposedly on the table and we're already well over the $6mill/yr figure approved by the BOTs. They said they were going to do whatever it took. I guess they're proving it should this all come to fruition.

Word spreading that Herman has privately talked to some recruits about possibly coming to SC. Kids talk...nothing private when it comes to that. He has a 4 and 5 star coming into Houston next year.

I would be really surprised if we go over $4M for a 2nd year HC, even if he's one of the hottest names in coaching vacancies right now. I also couldn't even fathom 'unlimited funds for assistants and recruiting,' b/c nobody can or will do something like that. I don't doubt AD Tanner will set a tremendous budget for recruiting and Asst Coaches, but unlimited is a farce, b/c he won't spend more money than we make to do so.

Yep, that time of the year where everyone is an insider and everyone has the inside scoop. You know how often those suddenly new insiders get it right when it comes to a coaching search? Almost never.

Besides, there will not be an attempted deal until after the season.

Totally agree with everything you said. The guy that told me that has always been spot-on in the past, but there's no way in hell those figures could be accurate. Herman only pulls $1.25mill/yr now. I don't see us more than tripling that, like you said, for a second year HC. The only thing I could figure that he meant by unlimited was possibly that he would be able to hire his assistants at whatever salary he felt was fair, trusting that he wouldn't gouge the University. Who knows.

And Nebraska...why the hell would we have a coaching changes board if it weren't to discuss all of these rumors and "inside info" that is floating around? I mean, that's what we're here for until ink is dry and announcements officially made. I can tell you this, though. You're incredibly naive if you think that every University/College that has an opening hasn't already started reaching out, at the very least putting feelers out to gauge reception/interest in their opening.

Furthermore, it would not surprise me in the least if offers have been made. Or at the very least offers have been prepared, desired candidates made aware of the "strong" interest but not "officially"....you get the gist of it. With so many positions open already, programs are obviously expeditiously getting their ducks in a row to be in the best position possible to snag whoever it is that they want.

Head coaching searches must be a new thing for you to follow as you come across as a complete newbie.

Yep. You got me. I don't know shite about football. I just like looking at all those guys out there in their tight pants, showing off the package, their asses..mmmmmm...yep. That's the only reason I give a shite. After all, I don't have the correct sex organs to be able to comprehend anything about football, right? Just stay in the kitchen and do the things the misses are supposed to do.

You sound like a complete noob when it comes to women and sports. Sorry I didn't write an essay covering all of the semantics, rules and regs of NCAA Division 1 coaching searches. Don't like my posts? Simple solution. Don't fricking read them, jackass.

I'm not. I think he holds tight for the UGa job.

I think Elliott will ultimately be promoted. And I'm not positive he isn't the best man for the job.

Not reading through all these pages.

Richt will go to SC after being fired from UGA. SC fans would sell their soul to have be a consistent 8 win team

I'm not gonna really put much stock in insider articles. I mean, 90% of insiders were predicting Seventh Woods would commit to SC in MBB and he ended up going to UNC. It'll take me awhile to regain my confidence in insiders after that.

No we wouldn't. We don't want Richt. And 8 wins isn't good enough.

So all in all, you're a retard.
