West Virginia Head Coach Dana Holgorsen had quieted the critics about his job with a four-game winning streak, pushing the Mountaineers to a 7-4 record. A loss in the season finale to Kansas State, though, fanned the flames under his hot seat and there was plenty of chatter about him being fired - either this week or after his buyout decreased $3M on January 1st. A "no comment" from Athletic Director Shane Lyons seemed to back talk that there were at least discussions.

According to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, however, Holgorsen will be back next season.

In five seasons at West Virginia, Holgorsen has a 35-28 record, although he is only 25-25 since joining the Big12. The Mountaineers take on Arizona State in the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl on January 2nd.

Probably saw all the other shite hires and figured they couldn't possibly do any better.

His offense in 2011, I swear. As good as LSU's defense was, they carved through it like there was nothing to it.

Hopefully WVU leaves the light on for Holgo.

The only person that can shut down Tavon Austin is Jeff Fisher.

Yep.

Best defense I've ever seen wear purple and gold and they put up 500+ yards on it. Unreal.

Isn't this guy a drunk that stays locked away in a hotel most nights to hide his drunkenness from the public?

That would be the '03 defense, but '11 was pretty good.

He's got a boss house by Cheat Lake. But most of the state would've been happy leaving him on the tarmac in KS after calling gimp QB keepers with the game on the line (while putting a RB 9yds away from the BXII rushing title in motion).

He's been tinkering and at times seems to be turning the corner...then dials up some hot fail like last week. This will also save a shite ton of money, but I'm not completely sold that if he lays an egg in Phoenix they wouldn't make at least make a couple calls.

Disagree.

2011 played a much harder schedule and had more play makers. The talent level was a notch above.

At one point nearly every DB in that lineup was starting in the NFL as well as a LB, DE and DT.

Yes he would...for someone that he was an offensive coordinator for previously...someone who needs to fire his offensive coordinator who could only manage 7 points vs. LSU and 10 vs. Auburn.

He seems happy where he is now. I don't think he'll be coaching again.

Have any facts to back this up?

I've heard this too, but only on the Internet.

People are so impatient. The old guy before him didn't leave a foundation for long term success. Maybe he could use a new DC, but WVU needs to be careful what they wish for. I think WVU will be pretty good next season.

That is stated in the form of a question, which likely means he's asking to see if someone may know definitively. Which probably means the answer to this question....

....is no.
