Wouldn't be surprised if Texas had a hand in surpressing the Big XII expansion. Doing what they can to secure their next coach.

If Major is the only thing standing in the way of Herman taking the job, they will rehire Major. It's just that simple.

If you were him, you'd think a lot differently. If you were him, you might would look around and see winning the Big 12 is a lot easier than winning the SEC

LSU has won SEC 4 times in 20 years. Once every 5 years.
Texas has been champ 3 times in last 20 years. Once every 7 years rounded to whole year.
Statistically LSU better for any coach.
We have less competitors for our fantastic in state talent.

Houston players know herman is leaving. Past two weeks they look lethargic and uninspired. Definitely don't look like the same team who beat Oklahoma and Florida state.

So, Hernan has a problem getting players to play when their coach may or may not leave? Doesn't seem like a coach I want.

On the flip side, O has his players playing hard and they don't know who the coach will be next year.

I am not sure O is the solution, but I believe he is a better option with if Houston has quit on their coach.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I read that on here...

ETA - I still dont think they would take him back. It would be terrible optics.

1. didn't get into the big 12
2. coach is leaving them who they look at as a father figure

I can't blame houston entirely if they aren't exactly motivated to play in the upcoming weeks.

Dude, what?

Texas runs that conference. They absolutely torpedoed expansion. It doesn't benefit them in any way, at the moment. In one fell swoop they guaranteed the hottest name is coaching will leave his current job and simultaneously weakened Baylor and TCU's chances to make the playoffs and build on their recent sucess. Texas feels they're a big enough brand to get in the playoff if they put together a good season even without a championship game, and they're already getting all the revenue. They had nothing to gain.

I agree, however it is up to the coach to turn up the motivation. It appears he is not doing the job.

Three weeks ago they were undefeated and ranked #6 in the country with a chance at making the playoffs and winning a national championship.

If that is not enough to motivate them to play hard against Navy, Tulsa, and SMU their coach sucks.

Yes, with the collapse of their program over the last three weeks I don't think even with them being motivated in the upcoming weeks it would matter.

I'm just glad absolutely nothing has happened at LSU this year. Could you imagine how that would turn out with all the diversity the team would face with rumors of a coaching change. It would be complete disaster.

I know it's impossible. However, has anyone considered that other coaches/teams are figuring herman out?

Maybe his team doesn't know squat. Maybe they haven't quit. Maybe, just maybe, teams have studied and figured out a plan to slow down and attack Houston.

I know, that would mean that other coaches are out coaching herman. That is impossible.

Another poster in different thread called him a "one year wonder". I think that may be the case and would like to add that the one year was with another coach's players.

This is only his second year as head coach and it isn't looking very good right now.
