So Euax is $1M cheaper than Miles, but DC & OC are $2M than before?

Why not just pay a known commodity in Fisher? What happens when these assts get HC jobs. Who do we overpay then?

Alleva let his personal feelings get in the way of a dynasty

LSU is going to get a true HC eventually. So if know you have to do something eventually. You might as well get it done now

Happy to try to get someone a few years from now if O doesn't work out if that means not paying Fisher or Herman some stupid money that they aren't worth.

How long do you want the next coach to be here, then?

But that's the Mack Brown, Phil Fulmer path

And they still haven't been corrected

O is 55. Best case scenario is that he absolutely kills it for the next 5-10 years, at which point he'll be set to retire.

At worst, LSU might be able to save money (both coordinators were making $1M+) over the next few years while paying off the Les Miles buyout and preparing to go big on the next hire.

That's why LSU should have countered both Fisher and Herman. They could have countered for 6 or 7 with scaled payments (+ or -) after 5 years based on performance. There is no reason they should have ended negotiations. Make Fisher and Herman do that.

Because the headline "HC to make $7 Million" is more politically unsavory than "HC to make $3.5 million" with a footnote "DC and OC each over $2 million."

eta. I'm fully convinced LSU, at the direction of King and the board, were never fully invested in making a splash HC hire that would cost a lot of money. They never entered good faith negotiations.

Even with Fisher or Herman, you still have to pay for coordinators. Their DC would not have been cheap

But it is irrelevant. Fisher could have chosen to make it happen. Herman wasn't coming once Texas got involved.

Or we can settle again

He would have, but Alleva got his feels hurt. Didn't agree to the counter. Same thing with Herman

Same thing with Duke Lacrosse

See a pattern yet?

It's just as likely that both were using the situation for leverage.

If Fisher would have come here, it would have been an unheard of situation. A top 5 paid, championship HC never leaves his job unless it's for the NFL.

Maybe they could have gotten into a bidding war with Herman, but he was always a Texas lean. All that would have done was get him a bigger contract at Texas.

Those two were not happening. Alleva should have done a legit HC search. That's the issue here.

Fisher is not well liked there. Struggle for control by some older boosters

He would have bolted

That's your opinion. I disagree. Coaches don't leave top 5 paying jobs unless it's for the NFL. Meyer did it but he sat out first and faked "health problems". It doesn't happen. History is not on your side.

Alleva should have done a legit search anyway. Relying on something like Fisher to happen is asinine.

True. But Jimbo wanting to get out was the chip Alleva was trying to use

But his fallback should have been a legit search
