He is more qualified than any other candidate we are considering except PERHAPS Jimbo Fisher. He has much experience and success coaching at a large SEC school and a large Big 12 school. He has won a national championship and brought his team to another. He is a proven winner. Won SEC titles. He has proven he can recruit at the highest levels. CEO, Herman, Fleck, and Fedora can't touch these credentials.

A good offense was always his weak point but he seems to have addressed that issue and has been studying spread offenses and seems to favor a Baylor type offense as that, reportedly, seems to be the team he has studied the most since being released from LSU. After the weaknesses of so many of our candidates are getting exposed as the season goes perhaps returning Miles to the fold is not such a bad option.

Should Coach Miles be considered (especially since Cam Cameron has been released)in our coaching search and would he take the job if offered? How much would it cost in buyout, salary, etc would it take compared to hiring Fisher if we went that route?

We better gauge his interest and act quickly before Texas, Notre Dame, or USC steal him away!

He is one of the few big fish available in the small pond of high level proven coaches right now so it could come down to a bidding war. If we were to go that direction, I think Notre Dame would be our main competition. He is from that area (the mid north) and may want to return to his home turf.

Getting into a massive bidding war to hire a guy we didn't want and discarded in the middle of the season will help enhance our prestige.

Maybe we can hire him and then fire him again in the middle of the 2017 season.

whoever we hire needs to be given at least a 2 year grace period. It is going to take some time to install his new offense, and get people in place, and get the players to fit his system.

I hope whoever comes in can retain Aranda as DC, and Orgeron as DL coach (and for recruiting), and hire a really really great OC.

Coach Miles checks off more boxes in what we are looking for than anyone else we are considering

He should be considered about as much as Orgeron.

That's a good point. I'm sure Notre Dame officials are already going through back channels to present their offer in anticipation of the bidding war that will ensue. I've heard USC is eyeing Miles too and Texas is rumored to be willing to offer part ownership of LHN to him.

Do you think a LSU can lure him? There will be an awful lot of competition. I've even heard some NFL teams are prepared to offer him general manager/head coach type power

surely you are not falling for this. Les is just trying to look "pretty" either to get another job or comply with the terms of his buy out.

You have won.

That was the stupidest thread I have ever seen on this board. Didn't last offseason he said they will study spread offenses during the season? And he didn't change anything
