They got away as cheap as possible, should have forced Texas to pay $6.5 million. Texas would have certainly paid $7million if LSU offered $6.5 million. Agreed?

We have a prepubescent child for an AD. He took his ball and went home

You need a real AD to do that and that is something LSU does Not have.

Joe Alleva would pay sticker price for a Honda Accord.

Can you explain how LSU would have benefited by that?

Nope. Herman's agent tried to use LSU to get more from Texas. Joe did the right thing by taking that leverage away at the 11th hour.

Herman got screwed because he backpedaled. He lost his leverage to get more from UT. Screw him. He cost himself plenty of money.

I'm kinda glad we didn't help inflate coach's salaries anymore than they already are.

That's really not good for anyone. If we are on the hunt in a couple years for a new HC, that's just another school we've let set a pricing precedent.

LSU isn't affected in that case but they force Texas to pay more. The other side of the coin is Texas refuses to pay and you get the coach.

It is only complicated for incompetent, irrational people like Joe Alleva.

I agree. What's another $500k or $1M to Texas? It's a lot to Herman.

By fricking over Texas? And considering they could offer Aranda you would make giving Aranda big money less likely.

Also, what if he flops? Would force Texas to pay for another buyout AGAIN.

Alleva realized Herman was playing LSU to get Texas to pay a higher salary.

Alleva hired Coach O and announced it early thereby undercutting any leverage Herman had to get a higher salary.

Texas has a billionaire backing it. Salary was never a problem for them.

If one man is playing you for a fool then undercut his salary.

Herman doesn't have the chest to coach in the SEC West.

Texas hasn't shown a willingness to pay more than anyone, despite the ability to do so

They hired their 8th choice in baseball this yesr

Maybe baseball isn't important to the money people.....

Kind of like basketball at LSU.
