Franklin told him to him he needed an answer quick. He went with ~ 1 million on the table to stay at PSU. Miles wasn't going to throw 1.3 mil at him in a panic. It is the wiser decision, but may end not being the better decision. Can't fault Miles for not coming across as desperate.

Exactly, this LSU twitter source says he said it "wasn't really much of a decision". So he made a decision which must mean he had an offer.

Its likely Miles wouldnt offer a million dollar job on a first interview. And its hard to believe that Shoops would quit on Franklin with one interview as well. Shoops was interviewing Miles and LSU as much as Miles was interviewing him. Once PSU ponied up, it was over. If u were Shoops what would u have done?

LSU will be fine, and there will be others that will use the LSU interview to get raises, theres nothing anyone can do about that. I dont even think u can get upset about that kind of stuff anymore. It is, what it is.
Miles should take his time and get the right guy, period.

Everyone should just calm down and wait until Miles gets his man. Theres nothing but rumors and agendas at this point.
U can keep getting trolled if u want or listen to the 'sky is falling' rumor because a guy decided to stay put along with a huge raise.

Well that was dumb. Guy held tOSU to our lowest point total of the season(in OT no less).

Well the other way to interpret that is that no decision is "not really much of a decision." No offer means no decision necessary. Especially if he couldn't afford the time it would take for Les to weigh his options.

Franklin convinced Shoop he would just take him with him to LSU once Les is fired after next year. Thinking long term, well played James.

This is like people calling a game after the opponent goes up by a touchdown on the first drive. Calm down everyone, the second half isn't even here yet.

You seem to know it all when it comes to LSU's business

Which certainly happens here, so this is about right.

All of these so called interviews and offers are nothing more than a smokescreen, the decision has been made.

I thought the general rule of them is you did not "offer" unless you were certain they were going to accept anyway?

I agree regarding Shoop. He had to make a decision quick and he opted for the big raise at his dream school over continuing to be a serious candidate somewhere else and waiting to be the final official candidate. I can't fault him for that; it makes senses for him and his family.

Now, Miles, I don't agree. You say you can't fault Miles for not coming across as desperate. But Miles IS desperate. He is going to end up with Brick Haley as his DC. That is very desperate.

He was not offered, and he was never going to be offered on Wednesday.

That was the first time Miles has ever talked about football with him. Of fricking course he wasn't going to offer him right there on the spot.

Miles was never going into that interview to offer Shoop the job.

That doesn't mean he wasn't eventually going to offer him.

This. and the offer would have come from LSU to Shoop's agent after the meeting. PSU had a raise and extension on the table either before they met or right after. Hell, he could have gotten a text from his agent during the meeting.

So technically he wasn't offered, technically he didn't turn it down, and prior to them meeting the Shoop had never talked to LSU. His agent did.

This is a non-story to get people worked up who don't understand how this works.

So using baseless rumors, this is your conclusion?
