Who in the hell offers a job in an interview to someone when you are still in an interviewing process? That's just desperate.

Do people not understand that coaching searches are conducted in such a way to make this feasible?

The Shoop deal is much different because LSU would have had to bid a smooth half mill over PS because Shoop grew up there. Its his home. I personally think it was kind of dumb to even interview him because thats home.
