My Thoughts:

O is doing great things, fans love him, we all love him and if wins, he had solid chance to be hired for many reasons, one being he's a great comfortable fit at LSU. But is that emotion talking???? We're loaded team, many coaches would win with our talent....so there is a hint of fear from past resume/job performances. People learn and improve, is O that guy? We get to learn one way or other...

Jimbo- meets all the criteria we want in a coach, also a great fit...but will he leave FSU? National Championship Coach, let that sink in....age 50...has the "Ive done it"...don't have to wonder "can he run a big program and win big?"...so he gets the big chips thrown his way.

Herman- I think he goes to UT...despite it being a dumpster fire. Houston team looks distracted. Indicating his team knows he is leaving. O is doing great and apparently a search committee is now getting involved. I consider Herman a bigger risk because he has little HC experience no big league HC experience....

Right now it seems... from the outside looking, its going to O or Jimbo

after that, I have no idea whom it could end up being. Say O bombs, fans turn on him a bit demand headliner...and Jimbo says not thanks after last year, and Herman to UT...who is left?

Petrino isn't coming here, so we need to quit mentioning him. 10 millions reason why. I don't like him character wise...

Chip Kelly, doesn't feel like a fit at all here at LSU. "fish out of water when I think of him in Louisiana and recruiting the south

O and Jimbo are best fits LSU. Fit is critical..as things stand right now, I believe our HC in 2017 will be one of these two IMHO...

so if could have either one based on everything you know, who is your pick and why?

You have to make either Herman or Jimbo say no to $8MM/year.

Too much riding on this hire and too much invested in the football program at this point to go cheap. Can't be penny wise and dollar foolish.

Jimbo the safer pick and better fit.

But, so much upside with Herman..esp if he retains Aranda.

Make Sean Payton say no. Bring in Brees as QB coach.

Why is O any better of a candidate than Aranda? Most on here agree Aranda is a shooting star in the coaching world. I like his attention to detail, his demeaner, professionalism, intelligence.
People need to understand o is riding a wave of emotion and relief From setting the offense free from les Miles. That emotional high isn't sustainable long term.

Anyone remember how Tiger Stadium looked for much of the 90's?

Upper end zones empty under the old scoreboards...and that was with only the West side upper deck.

With ticket prices today much more expensive than back then, that place will be empty if we get this hire wrong.

Recruits would flock to him after he drops 50 a few times

I like aranda.

All you hear about him is how smart he is and how hard he works.

But being a HC requires a lot. He seems to quite to be a HC.

Pretty obvious if i am going between jimbo or O.

O is 19-27 with no bowl appearances to date.

Jimbo is 73-16 and 4-2 in bowl games.

Also jimbo specializes in offense and assuming he retains aranda there's really no question here.

I've literally never heard of a top notch coach being a 'bad fit' at any particular school. This is so overrated.

You're either a good coach or your not. Quit trying to complicate things. Just hire the best football coach you can hire.

Herman, Jimbo, Fleck

When I think of when LSU football was fun for me it was when Jimbo was our OC. Then Skip said he has that Spurrier "it" factor.

Herman imo is the next great coach. Idc about his recent results. Everyone goes through a rough stretch.

I love the energy Fleck brings and the fact he's turned a losing program around so quickly is impressive too. He might not have any southern recruiting connects but it'll be easy for him to make some. Kids will line up to play for him.
