Why would they treat Miles that way? I like him and don't really understand all the negativity surrounding him. Is he a bad person? I sure don't see that he is. Seems like a really good guy.

LSU is waiving it because Miles will not be allowed to bring certain coaches with him to M and also not be allowed to recruit are already commited players....basically, leave and your screwd, stay and you will do well as usual

They would have to pay us the 1.25 not sure what we're "saving" by opting out of the buyout.
I realize UM has $$, but they might not be in the position to front the RichRod buyout, Miles Buyout plus his salary.

He was just on ESPNEWS and stated sources from the Miles camp said it would be extremely difficult to say no to Mich IF they offered, and sources from LSU are the ones leaking that LSU would waive the buyout.
I think the University of Michigan may be feeling a bit precautious to pay LSU 1.25 million on top of whatever other embarassing amount of money they've already promised the Miles to come to Michigan. You have to consider that UM knows that many of their alumni are gonna complain about their beloved school hiring the media's clown to be their coach. If LSU waives the buyout, UM officials can say "hey, he's a proven 10 win/year coach that can recruit, AND LSU waived their buyout. How could we say no." In these tough econmic times, their $5 mil/year is going to piss off a lot of tenured professors. This is a way (albeit, probably in vain) to appease the faculty, if only slightly.

To me this is the most telling info to come out yet! It says lsu has a replacement for miles lined up and they are ready to move on and want it over with asap!

Good God...if Miles is very serious about leaving and LSU is very comfortable with the caliber of his replacement, why unnecessarily slow or complicate the process by sticking to the buyout?
It's a class move by LSU, if true.
