I have to say its funny the way people ask why Saban would leave Bama because he has everything he wants-money, success, status, etc....what all of these people are missing is why would anyone want to live in Alabama if you did not have to.....if he can have all of these wonderful things at some place other than an Alabama shitehole, then why would he not want to go....I mean: Who wants to live in fricking Alabama?

Saban doesn't seem like the kind of guy who digs highly populated areas. The man likes his privacy.

What is it they say about Pennsylvania? Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Mississippi in-between? Guess where State College happens to fall on that map.

You do realize that only Penn State is looking for a new head coach at this time?

I'll play this game of ifs. IF, Saban was their man:

quote:

SABAN CONTRACT LINK

According to Ammendment #2, Saban is set to receive a $1.6M Completion bonus on 1/15/12.

* Probably not a big issue for PSU to pick up this bonus but Saban isn't going to want to give it up.
According to the Original Contract starting on page #27 Saban must to the following "if" he is going to terminate employment without cause:

* Must notify the University within 5 days of the termination date during the 30 day period following the teams last regularly scheduled match, or 30 days notice at any other time. (Saban would won't to start recruiting asap so the latest day he would want to notify Alabama would be somewhere around 12/26/11 given their last game was Auburn 11/26/11). If he waits after this date it would push is hiring into late January.

* He can't recruit any players not Alabama was recruiting unless the school he is going to had prior communication with that same recruit. (not a big deal)

ARTICLE VI - PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYMENT

* Section 6.01 states Saban has to notify Alabama about any inquiries of other employment either directly towards him or any agents.

It seems to me that any of these stipulations would have set off alarms within the network of boosters and other individuals that put out information to the Alabama media.

Burton Burns doesn't coach WRs. And he has no connection to LSU. If he was leaving, I would worry about an opening at Nebraska.

See that's where you are wrong.
We could switch Wilson to coach WR's and burns to RB's

And FTR the connection is Frank Wilson. Burns was his mentor.

Burns is a pretty loyal guy. He's remained in all of his jobs until the coach either moved on, or was fired. How else does one stay with Tommy Bowden for 12 years?

And what's the incentive to make a lateral move?

You do realize that was not a writer for a newspaper, rather a comment from a fan named loldaveyjones, right? It was, essentially, Pennlive irresponsibly posting nothing more credible than some of the nonsense that is posted on this site in relation to Saban to WVU, OSU, USC, Cowboys, Texas, etc. Waste of time to post.

Hey Bamasgot13, its probably just idle chatter, BUT if it's true Bama will melt down.........

I think sexton is just posturing to get N$ a nice raise at the end of the year whether he wins or loses the BCSNC.

Exactly ... with Sexton it happens every time a high profile job opens up.

I don't understand this Saban will follow money crap,..He came to LSU because he had dreams of building a power program. It was the last big sleeping giant and he had a great opportunity to be in charge of that..He always had dreams of being an NFL coach. When the time came that NFL came calling it was a hard decision bc he felt responsible for the new winning traditions at LSU and loved the college life but still wanted to finish his dream. After the NFL didnt work out he landed at another huge power and hasn't looked back.. I don't get the money hungry argument, to me he's just chasing his dreams and kicking arse along the way. We, LSU should be grateful we were apart of that...

Exactly how I feel, great post

Ive been saying this for months. After Les beats him again on Jan 9 book it. Saban goes to Penn St. Why? He could win the Big 10 every single year with no problems thats why? Why stay in the SEC when you could go there and play those sorry arse teams. Look at Meyer.

If he were to leave the overriding factor would be geographical and quality of lifestyle that he prefers. It's no secret he has no love of the deep south and it's inhabitants. He is and always will be a good little catholic boy who prefers to coach and play with athletes of a different quality and academic capacity. Nothing wrong with that he will continue to win big and be considered the savior of another broken program,a role we all know he cherishs.

that is the most intelligent, well said comment ive seen from an LSU fan about Saban probably ever...ppl don't want to remember him for what he did for LSU. Its really refreshing to see an LSU fan who doesn't take it personally that he left for the pros...we named our dog Saban and ppl always ask me what were gonna do if he ever leaves, well out dog will still be named Saban and we will still love and appreciate Saban for what he brought BAMA back to, an SEC powerhouse who competing for NCs regularly...thansk again and can't wait to see yall next monday!! should be a great game between to 2 BEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY!!!

And Louisiana is not a shithole???

I have lived in Louisiana all my life and love the people, culture, outdoor activities but don't think LA is less of a shithole than Alabama. Just like Louisiana Alabama has very beautiful places along with dumps but if I had to rate which state is more scenic and kept up Alabama would rate way ahead of Louisiana.

This is funny as hell!

Saban was born in raised in fricking West Virginia, coached in fricking Michigan, Louisiana, Miami, and Alabama.

Just what kind of "geographical and quality of lifestyle" does he prefer? Because he's spent a large portion of this career coaching in shitholes from north to south.
