Read this Article before throwing all your chips in on Jimbo

I was all onboard the Jimbo train last year (and even recently). But after reading this article, my worries about Jimbo came to a boil.
Thought I'd share...

Do you know how brutal a "reasons to not hire Coach O" article would be?

Propaganda is everywhere. This author is a very adamant supporter of Orgeron.
Of course, he didn't disclose this bias anywhere in the article.

truth
he has two interim success stories....so far and he is good at recruiting and dline coaching. These items are not cause for handing him the keys to a top 5 HC gig.
All the "he loves LSU" stuff needs to be tempered a bit. He is a NSU alum and not an LSU alum/Tiger, so spare me the intense historical love of LSU. Is he proud of his heritage as someone from SoLA? Absolutely! BUT, LSU is comprised of more heritage bases than Cutoff, LA.
I'm not hating at all and actually admire the guy, but the intoxication of having the Les frustrations gone is clouding many folks vision.
ETA: two things have more to be credited with the current path: 1) Aranda's system maturing and 2) the simple handcuffs being removed from a rich talent pool

Gotta wonder how much the O camp paid ATVS for that hit piece.

I agree with this guy. Jimbo is not the offensive juggernaut you guys are looking for. You all have very short memories. I would rather O over Jimbo. Herman, on the other hand, would be an upgrade.

Orgeron isn't going to take paying a large buyout to FSU, paying him somewhere in the neighborhood of 7.5M a year, and likely a massive buyout for at least 4 years.
There are two points that have been downplayed around here as it pertains to Jimbo.
1) Sign him, and he's here long term, for better or worse. He would be a fool to leave FSU for anything less than a hefty raise and an ironclad buyout.
2) The results he's posted over the last two seasons would have him on the hotseat at LSU.
I'm not gonna throw a hissy fit if Jimbo is hired, we could do a lot worse. Still, Jimbo is going to require a bigger commitment on LSU's end than likely any other candidate. You're talking about this guy being LSU's coach for the next 5 years, so it shouldn't ruffle your feathers that people aren't just blowing smoke up his arse.

Anyone dismissing the fact that jimbos career is on a path exactly like that of miles is just blind. He is greatly underachieving the last 2 years at fl st despite the fact he has by far the most talent in an overrated acc....it is unreal how blind many of y'all are

This guy makes a point to say that because Fisher won a NC, it makes him a less attractive candidate.
That's amazing.

For the life of me I do not get the desire for Jimbo. The only reason I can see is an overcorrection to hire an offensive coach given Miles' struggles. However, as the article points out, Jimbo's offensive track record is decidedly mediocre.

Yes they just don't want to look at Jimbo's body of work. But they'll fixate on O's time and Ole Miss. With out Winston Jimbo hasn't done shite. He had 2/3 stellar recruiting classes and hasn't been able to maintain it since his all world QB won him a title. He is getting blown out in big games. What would LSU fans do if we got 62 point dropped on us? I like Herman or even Fuentes but I sure as hell would keep O over that large arse price tag on Jimbo.

Jimbo is a great coach and would be a great fit at LSU.
I love Coach O. He has done a great job at LSU since he stepped on campus and since being named Interim HC.
However, the skill set required to step in and take over a team and program that someone else built is a different skill set that is required to build a program, make the right hires, devise the right schemes, recruit and sign the right players and right mix of players.
At LSU and USC he took over:
A program that someone else made every coaching hire.
A program that someone else decided on offensive and defensive scheme. (Realize that we kept the Miles\Cam scheme and terminology and playbook.)
A program that someone else ultimately made the call on every athlete that was offerered and every offer that was accepted.
A program that someone else made every administrative/support hire.
It is difficult to step in and manage a program/team/staff that someone else built. That requires a set of skills that are special and very valuable.
However they are not the same set of skills required to actually build, hire, recruit a successful team and program.
Perhaps O has these skills too. Perhaps his record as the actual HC at OM where HE hired the staff, HE designed the scheme and HE recruited and decided what offers to make and accept is not proof he will not be a great HC.
What I think folks should consider is that having success as an Interim isn't proof that he will be.

Not only has it been considered, it's been argued here ad nauseam. This article and thread isn't about Orgeron, it's about Jimbo. It's kinda telling that those (not you specifically) who want Jimbo over anyone else immediately resort to talking about how bad they think Orgeron is and don't really talk about why they think Jimbo will be successful here.

My chips were never all in on Jimbo. I want to get the top guy available. That means looking at performance and shoring up our deficiencies....OFFENSE and QB performance.
