Question for the "I want coach O" crowd

Do you REALLY want him, or do you just believe deep down that his being named full time HC is a possibility so you are preparing yourself for that?

They're victims of a 'feel good story' and ignore reality.
I love Coach O, but any reasonable college football fan knows that turning away a Jimbo Fisher type coach and promoting the DL coach to HC could result in disaster. Would it for sure? No, but why take that chance when you got the for sure thing knocking on your door?

And if his name was pronounced Or-Ger-On and he was from New Mexico instead of LA would ANY LSU fan want him?
Basically, is the support for him based on 1) that they think it may happen so psychologically they are preparing for it and 1a) they are more able to accept it because he's a home state guy?

It's a combination of things. We just fired a terrible coach, so they have nothing good to compare him to. O came in and supposedly saved the day with his yaw yaw speeches. He's an underdog story. He's a hometown baw. I think people just want to try and justify keeping him as HC anyway they can. They know not what they do.

Yep. Well, from a football standpoint the O supporters see a guy who can recruit, who made a good short term hire with Pete Jenkins, who breathed life into the team. They trust him to hire a good OC and not meddle with the offense.
