O's resume includes coaching at huge programs like USC and LSU. Both recently.

For a total of what, 10 games? What does that prove? He hasn't been a leader of a program for more than half a season since Ole Miss. that's why people use it as a frame of reference. Interim coaching is completely different than running a program

There is a difference between a Head Coach and a INTERIM Head Coach. He is GREAT at bringing excitement to a program that has gotten stale, I love Coach O for the interim, but there is only so much that excitement can do.

In his one stop as a program runner, he failed miserably, so i disagree that it doesn't matter what he did at Ole Miss. People also keep saying that keeping O means keeping this coaching staff in tact..ok, it maybe does...for now, not forever, then you have to rely on the Cheeleader HC to hire replacements...no thanks.

I love O and hope he stays, i really do, but i do NOT want him as head coach and nothing he could do this year could convince me otherwise. There is a reason that he hasnt been a HC in almost 10 years and that is the guy that you want taking this program over? If he was anyone else that wasnt a cajun baw NO ONE would want him as HC, just like every other program in the country.

I don't disagree with anything you said.

However, would you, like most have said, agree that had CEO been head coach all season, we would likely be undefeated right now?

Assuming you agree, IMO that puts this season at far more relevant to his coaching abilities than we he did a decade ago at shitty Ole Miss.

When he became interim coach at USC, nobody really thought he would do as well as he did there because nobody has ever given him his second chance since Ole Miss. Well he began to re-prove himself at USC.

If he can either run the table or come very close to it (including a win against the best team in the country), I will never concede that those wins are more important and more relevant than his time a decade ago at a shitty school that almost nobody has ever won anything at in its history.

I have absolutely no doubt o would be much better now than he was at Ole Miss, for a variety of factors, but I'm not convinced he can take us where we want to go long term. I see us as a 9-3 most years type team under O.

But when they start matching wits with SEC level coaches, you'll see the warts then and Fleck's experience matching wits with coaches from Eastern Michigan, Akron, Toledo, Kent St etc won't seem so valuable.

what a load of baloney. You really think this is rocket science. Your not matching wits with Anatoli Karpov or Garry Kasperov or Bobby Fisher. It's just football.

If he can coach he can coach. But can he recruit? That is the most important factor in hiring a HC. If you can sign the top dogs you can be the top dog (ie: check out Saben with Bama)

He has had the highest ranked recruiting classes in the MAC every year he has been the coach at Western Michigan.

He's an awesome recruiter and he reminds of a Saban, not in the sense that he's just copying what Saban does but that he has a tremendous vision of what he wants his program to look like and how he wants his players to prepare and he knows how to push those buttons to get from point A to point Z, so to speak. He often talks about the importance of changing and growing as a program to avoid becoming stagnant. He's the real deal.

we're starting to get some traction on local radio...they are at least talking about it. If WMU keeps winning hopefully our numbers will grow and Alleva will take serious notice.

You and Dos Crystal will be getting all the blame or glory from this board if LSU does get Fleck. Ya'll have done a lot of "rowing" to get this board energized about Fleck.... I like Fleck more I watch and read about him.

If Fleck came here and failed i would happily take a permaban as punishment. i am 100% convinced he's the next superstar coach.

I say this honestly, and not just because your the leader of the fan club , but...

He gives the most incredibly explanatory press conference i've ever seen from a coach at any level. He knows EXACTLY what he wants.

I am not going to say Fleck definitely needs to be the coach at LSU next season, but for the life of me I can't see any reason why he shouldn't be interviewed.

He may not be as impressive in person, but everything from his coaching to leadership to recruiting to vision just screams success. Ignoring that would be a mistake in my opinion.

This guy could very well be the next Meyer, Saban, Harbaugh....... why wouldn't you want have him interview?

yeah exactly. I understand the initial reservation about his experience but feel like he's the kind of guy that would blow them away in the interview if just given the opportunity.
