Really impressed by his interview there. He will be doing good things at a bigger school in the near future.

It's fairly simple now, he has to be the choice. Young or not, the guy can coach and would jump at the chance.
I'd take the risk.
I'd take the risk.

PJ Frick is qualified to be at LSU as head greenskeeper or assistant manager of the janitorial staff.

Wasn't he 17-21 before this year?
He was 1-11 his first year, and then his next year he was 8-5, followed by 8-5, and now 8-0. Talk about a turnaround.
I'd like Fleck about twenty or thirty times more than O. I'd also love it if Willie Taggart got an interview. He's a fantastic coach.

He has droppped multiple conference games every other season and is in what his 4th or 5th year there and has the best recruiting class every season in his division
I mean that's nice but he won like 1 game his first season and how many quality wins are there? He typically has more talent but was still dropping games there in division

First time Western Michigan is ever ranked in top 25, best recruiting class in his care conference last 3 years, only one game this year they have not won by 14 points or more.
If this is not worthy of an interview to you then nobody is. Fleck is a fast rising talent without question.

Fleck is bad arse. Some people just have it. He's got it. Great recruiter, if you watch the game last night, he's constantly coaching all phases, great communicator.
A lot of times it takes more coaching at these small schools. You can't just out talent you opponent. Thing about fleck, he can do both. Get the talent and coach them up.
He's beating the shite out of everyone. Unprecedented at western Michigan. He is my top two.
I see him as the Beth Torino hire. Known as a good coach in coaching circles, not well known to the public. Comes in, starts out recruiting everyone, and makes Lsu a top contender yearly.

You know the detractors will be coming with he hasn't been a coordinator or my favorite "he needs to go to a mid level to prove himself first". Well go look what conference Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and Gary Pinkel coached in before their jump since the Meyer and Saban example wasn't good enough.
And the biggest difference with the MAC coaches who look sub par, like Botch Jones and Brian Kelly, versus Fleck is what their team was before they got there. Jones and Kelly didn't inherit a program with a history of failure. They didn't build their MAC programs, hell Jones really just rode the wave of Kelly from Central Michigan to Cincinnati to land in Tennessee. He didn't build squat!
Fleck is checking the boxes for me, he should be interviewed at least!

He is three games from an undefeated season. If you are looking for a coach and you don't talk to someone who built a program from nothing to beating everyone he plays. Then that isn't a smart move.
"he needs to go to a mid level to prove himself first"
I don't care what they say, There are successful people from all professions that became successful without the having to prove myself crap. Mark Cuban, Zuckerman, Jobbs, Dell, etc. Are and would be successful people with or without having to prove themselves in a certain industry.
Fleck just seems like a guy who was born to coach. He has a gift. Some people have to work and develop their craft while some just have it. He seems to just have it. He's a talent.
I tell my son all the time. You will be successful with hard work. You can out work the average guy and become successful. However, sometimes there will just be a more talented guy. What separates the great ones is when talent meets work ethic. You have a special talent/gift and you maximize that talent/gift, that person becomes great.
There have been a lot of wr's that are bigger and faster than Jerry Rice. However, what made him the greatest is his talent was maximized by his work ethic.
If you look at the great coaches, they are very talented communicators, they are driven, organized, preparation freaks, constantly evolving/learning, constantly looking for edge, bringing people in for more ideas, they do not rest and do not get comfortable. Fleck, from what I've seen, appears to be a very driven guy with a lot of these traits.

Yesterday's win marks Western Michigan's longest ever winning streak

How's this for a scenario, DS?
LSU, Auburn and Western Michigan all win out.
Auburn goes to playoff
Western Michigan gets an auto NY6 bowl by being the highest rated Group of 5 team.
LSU gets an at-large NY6 bid at 9-2.
LSU vs Western Michigan in the Sugar Bowl, AKA, the Fleck Bowl? Especially interesting if LSU hires Fleck before the game. Even more interesting if Fleck is allowed to coach Western Michigan in the Sugar Bowl against his new team.
Would we need to monitor your health, DS?
I for one would think this would all be awesome.
Sadly (IMO, which could be wrong), if LSU wins out, Orgeron probably gets the nod.
