I'm not saying he's 3rd, I'm just saying he's clearly in the top 3. I think you could make a case that venables and Pruitt are up there as well. At that point it's splitting hairs.

"The best" is subjective and a matter of opinion.

This whole first choice, second choice, etc., is ridiculous.

There is no doubt Kiffin was his first choice, but he took a head coaching job. Nothing wrong with that.

After that, I would hope he would make calls and inquiries all over the country. That doesn't mean that all those people, like Lincoln Riley, are No.2 or 3 or 4. It's a stupid concept.

Lincoln Riley was the 2nd choice behind Kiffin. He might be the best OC in college football and will be a HC soon if I had to guess.

That's what I thought too.

So O had two buddies lined up as potential OCs and when that didn't pan out he had to research and find a new candidate.

IDK, but it seems like things are working out for the better. I mean Canada's football and personal history are much better than Kiffin and Sark's.

Really what do you consider elite? The only OC up for the Broyles this year

And if Saban showed interest in Canada.. Well I think we made the right hire.

I personally am not sold on Helfrich and think he would have been a bad fit. Riley is the only one on your list I would want above Canada. The Briles duo is not plausible for obvious reasons. Enos and Canada are a wash and I think Canada's system fits us slightly better.

Lincoln Riley who already has total control of the O at OU.

But we know why he didn't leave. Riley is looking for an HC position at a power 5 school next year. He'll probably get it.

Lincoln Riley was never coming to LSU and neither was Kiffin. LSU made the best hire available IMO. We've got 2 top coordinators and plenty of talent I'm excited about the future.

I've already said he had a great year this year. I think he's a good OC. I'll leave it at that.

He said he was going to bring in the best coordinators in the country. I think most agree Aranda is in the top 3. Canada, not so much. He's good, but he's not elite.

You're telling me the ONLY OC in the country to be a finalist for the Broyels award, given to the best Assistant Coach in the country,, isn't an elite OC?

What is your definition of elite then?

Canada was the ONLY oc up the Broyles award. You sound like you would bash ANYONE they were going to hire.

Well he said bring in the best OC in the country, so that is debatable since I never, and most of you never heard of this guy until recently.

That doesn't mean he won't be good. Just that O has said a lot of diff shite and is why fans have been uneasy.

I'll call it like I see it. This is a great hire for LSU. At this point it doesn't matter how O got to this decision, he made the right one.

But expectations are even higher with Canada on board now.

This hire was way more important than ANY one recruit.
