The whole thing has come full circle now: Richt reportedly shot down A&M and Sumlin is back in the mix, according to Brett Zwerneman.

"A high-ranking A&M insider told me Richt has declined Ags' offer and Kevin Sumlin is likely choice, anncmnt as soon as Sat. #mysa "

And much like every other coaching search, all parties involved are heading home with a prize. Richt, for having his name floated, will probably end up with a raise. Sumlin may end up getting the A&M job and a likely raise with after all, though this is a bit of an awkward situation considering he now knows the Aggies were flirting with Richt. Houston ... well, almost everyone wins.

Air raid style offense vs. SEC defense. Gonna be a tough few seasons till they focus on defense.

The real question is who are the getting as coordinators/assistants. Sumlin is fine as a NC, but the staff is make or break.

He isn't keeping any of the current staff. (Supposedly) he is going to have a healthy budget to recruit new staff with we'll see. I'm not thrilled about it, but if he wins, I don't give a shite.

Awesome. New HC, all new staff, all new schemes, and young players at skill positions... sounds like a recipe for success!

Is there something I should know about Fedora? Seems like if they were going to hire Sumlin they would have got Fedora instead

I think Sumlin is a solid higher. Getting a proven head coach is better than an unproven cordinator, especially with A&M coming into the SEC.

Meh....people said the same thing about Meyer's offense, but he found the right players to make it work....2 national championships.

Petrino's offense has a high number of passes, its' been fairly successful. Has it won the SEC West? No. Ultimately the defense will have to play ball either way.

A world of difference between a Petrino offense and a Sumlin offense.

We actually try to have a balanced attack, Sumlin goes 5-wide and throws it 65 times.

Houston threw the ball 613 times this year while Arkansas threw it 440. Other than putting up more passing yards than the rest of the SEC there isn't a ton of similarities between the two offenses.

I hate this hire as well. I hope and pray he hires an OC that implements a run first offense that runs out of power formations. If I see a 4 or 5 wide set and running out of the shotgun I will feel even more defeated than I do now

I still don't get why TAMU didn't get Fedora.

Really doesn't make sense, at least to me
