Of course I'm in. Hate to lose to the Ags, but I can't work up any hate. I respect A and M too much for that ...

re: What's the most devastating regular season loss for each football program? - DocHog
1969 Texas was horrible. I was 7 and I remember it as if it were yesterday. Most Arkansas fans that i knew back then pretty much shut down. The Stoernover was just as bad. It seems ludicrous now, but at that time we were absolutely ecstatic about Houston Nutt's job as the Arkansas coach. It seem...

re: The biggest SEC west has-been? - DocHog
The correct answer is TAMU, Ole Miss and Arkansas ( in no particular order) And as an older fan, i can tell you I hate the complacency that we hog fans have these days. The BB contract extension was idiocy. At least Ole Miss tried to cheat their way to winning and the Aggies are demanding th...

re: Best offensive coordinator in SEC? - DocHog
I'm a big fan of "first half" Enos. Not such a big fan of the second half version. Seems like he gets out-adjusted by other teams at the half much of the time....

re: Thank you, Baton Rouge - DocHog
Shameless bump time In about an hour, my son --the subject of this thread--will graduate from LSU. I'm amazed and more grateful than I could ever express. The people of BR, St Chris, and LSU saved my son's life and have given him back to us whole and happy. Thank you. And may God bless yo...

re: Gotta think its Art Briles to Auburn as OC - DocHog
It'd be a great hire. Briles has been scape-goated And his offense--coupled with Auburn talent-- would wreak havoc on the rest of us ...

re: The problem with "big time" hires - DocHog
Good point. Guess you have to hit a sweet spot where the coach is intelligent, talented, and not burned out. It also helps to have a coach the media thinks is cool...they'll help hype him If we ever start winning again, Bret would be a huge star which would really help us on the national...

I wonder if the same trends are true with coordinators and position coaches such as OL. Recruiting prowess is so damned important. But it clearly isn't the only major driver of success ...

re: Put a number on your expectations - DocHog
If we don't completely shut down in the last two games, we are sitting at 9-4, top 25, and not having this conversation I see that as horrible, some see that as reason for hope, and the folks with power aren't likely engaged in message board banter. My truest hope is that my fatalism is prov...

re: Put a number on your expectations - DocHog
Good review of information. Interesting;ly enough, I think most of us would be fine with a 9-4 average. That would probability mean we'd have a "floor" of about 5 or 6 wins, and a ceiling of around 11(maybe 12 once a decade.) ...

re: Fatass Bert is going into year 5 - DocHog
Are you happy because you sing, or do you sing because you are happy? John L, or 10 years of Hootie, or choosing Heath over Bill Self, or choosing BB over Gundy sure as hell doesn't look like "trying" to me. it looks inept. Jeez, Baylor is now a men's BKB power, and was a new FB power un...

re: Fatass Bert is going into year 5 - DocHog
Per College FB data warehouse, Arkansas is #23 all time; TAMU is 20, Washington is 21, Pitt is 22, Stanford is 24. Our ranks are dragged down by the late 19th and early 20th and 21st century CFBDW is an imperfect system, just as polls are. But the grouping is pretty tight Around us. Washingt...

re: Put a number on your expectations - DocHog
Killean, AP doesn't prove anything. See 1964 AP NATIONAL CHAMPIONS if you need a reference about bias and flaw in the polls. Suffice it to say that TAMU is pretty much in the same area that we are historically, and that we were much better before we went to the SEC and gave up our Texas recruit...

re: Put a number on your expectations - DocHog
So, we should accept between 4 and 5 losses per yr(assuming we play a bowl game.) That would put us around 65%. I suspect you are too young to remember the SWC during Broyles' era. It wasn't soft at all And the SEC was certainly no killer back then either. To me, this thread is another wa...

re: Put a number on your expectations - DocHog
Many of us are old enoug to remember when there were only 10 games in a season--11 if you got to a bowl game. So when I look at this, my first instinct so to say "8 wins per yr is pretty cool." But then I look deeper and see that 8 wins would equal 5 losses, which is not really reflective of a good ...

re: Who We Can Realistically Get After Fatass Gets Fired Next Year - DocHog
Seems like a false choice: either take money or wins. Other programs parlay wins into huge donations and amped up university prestige. We take the SEC money so we can play the part of the "scrappy underdog." ' The folks choosing this path should be ashamed. ...
