To be honest, i Wouldn't want a coach that's stupid enough to not keep an Elite recruiter from this state on his staff.

No way a new coach wouldn't want to keep Coach O.

Coach O isn't staying if he isn't head coach though.

I could see them not wanting Coach O.

He's clearly the guy they would replace you with if you got fired, and the way he's working the media, if you ever had any bad years the media would be calling for your head and trying to rally everyone to hire coach O again instead

It can be pretty awkward. The Luke Fickell situation is a rare one

Hmmmmm......LSU won a NC in 2003 and 2007 and played in the NC game in 2011 all WITHOUT Orgeron. We'll be fine if it happens.

Also, Bama has done fine without Ed also.

Why would O take a lateral move to move away from his home/family. I think he stays here until he gets a HC job at a middle tier school like Syracuse.

Ed Orgeron doesn't get the permanent HC job, feels he was screwed, gets pissed off, and quits.

The next day the University of Alabama, which seems to have an unlimited supply of money, hires him as a special recruiting assistant to Nick Saban.

What marginal benefit would Orgeron bring to Bama? They're already getting pretty much the maximum amount of 5* players they can handle.

I'm sure LSU would love to keep Coach O with the next HC. Who wouldn't. He's going to leave because of hurt feelings though.

Nightmare scenario for LSU

This would involve us hiring Les Miles back as head coach for more money and a higher buyout and on the one condition he brings Cam with him. Fortunately that's is not going to happen.

You're like a one man marketing campaign. I can respect that.

Rebuilding the DL that will be gutted by two straight years of major personnel losses. It's a position group with uncertainty for the first time since 2007 (going into 2017).

Karl Dunbar was likely a one year fix as DL coach, with the unexpected firing of Bo Davis. So there will likely be an opening. However, it's only a minuscule chance, hinging on the circumstances of Kiffin and Orgeron.

I'd be pretty surprised if Orgeron isn't the HC somewhere next year or on staff with Kiffin wherever he goes. Small possibility he could maybe stay on at LSu as DL coach but that seems pretty unlikely. Ending up at bama is even less likely i think.

100% chance that if he doesn't get the HC, he will work for either Bama/AU/TAMU. That how shite works.

Lose your two best recruiters on staff in one year and possibly more and you think it will be fine. Take your blinders off and actually think about what that would be.

I don't see O taking a lateral transfer to Alabama. Unless the new guy at LSU out and out dismisses him. If the option to stay at LSU remains open and his only other offers are basically the same level as he's at now, I'd see him staying. Family and remaining closer to his roots have got to be major considerations. O isn't a young up and comer anymore. The years of nomadic instability have got to be wearing thin.

If a HC position is offered? He's gone.

Because of Miles....oh wait he's gone
What about Frank Wilson....he's gone too.
You think people are gonna come because of Tommy Moffit? Please.
