I do. They should have been 11-1 or 10-2 at worst with that cakewalk schedule.

It's not the losses that bother me, it's the WAY that they lose. Repeated blowouts and defensive meltdowns. Wasn't Pelini supposed to be a defensive guru?

This was not supposed to be a big year for Nebraska. Plus they had the most difficult road schedule in the conference

Stay deluded

I bet he dared the AD like Nolan Richardson and Jag did and his bluff got called.

Turner Gill may get a call but doubt it, KU was in terrible shape when he got there.

Never thought of it like this but very true. Why would any coach want to go there knowing that a 9 win season isn't good enough (with their talent?)

Pelini is not a good coach. Many coaches have done much better with less talent than he has access to. His 9 win seasons are littered with losses that continue to hurt the future of that program. He is out coached by all the other contenders in that conference on a near weekly basis.

Nobody really cares about 9 win seasons, they care about winning nationally relevant games and Pelini hasn't done that. Good fire IMO.

I think they deserve a couple really bad seasons to humble them a little bit.

I think Nebraska already has their guy. Why else fire Pelini now?

Because he dared the AD twice in press conferences and probably at year end meeting they had enough of each other.

I think that most Nebraska fans are expecting that, and don't mind that as long as it eventually leads to success.

this isn't the 90s anymore. NU just has extreme issues to find more success than consistent 9-win seasons

the big10 is basically Ohio State in terms of national title contention

I like how people are saying Nebraska's irrelevancy is why they should be happy with 9 wins a year, which is meaningless these days. If schools like Wisconsin, Oregon and Michigan State can be successful, then why can't Nebraska?

Pour more money into top notch recruiters, dip into Texas and Ohio, and focus on winning the conference.

Oregon isn't in the same discussion but Wisconsin and Michigan State both were only 10-2 this season with Nebraska 9-3.. If you don't think that's competing I don't know what to tell ya.

Sure it is. There's no talent in Oregon. Both Oregon and Nebraska have money and solid reputations.

Cool. How many Big 10 titles, Rose Bowls, and No. 3 finishes has Nebraska had in the last 7 years?

if Nebraska can get the recruiting train going again they damn sure will return to prominence.

it is not unusual for programs to be down for what seems like a long time before returning to the top. hell, bama stunk the joint up for several coaches before they lucked out and got saban.

Alabama and it neighboring states are rich with highschool talent. Nebraska has nothing. They would need superman as far as a recruiter is concerned and then I don't think that'd be enough.

Not many "big" names will want this job, but you are right that any decent coach will demand a massive buyout based on their track record of firing coaches based on delusional expectations.

Everything he said there is exactly right and the fans and administration should listen.

If they go to Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oregon, they'll go to Nebraska.
