Now Les Miles will never be vindicated in the eyes of our fans. No more chances to beat Saban.

Sexton does this anytime there is a job opening to try to raise Nick's salary and earn another paycheck...

Nick Saban complains that there are too many expectations in college football for coaches, but he and his agent are two of the primary causes of that due to his salary causing an arms race...LSU is partially to blame.

Nick is almost fully vested in a very lucrative teacher retirement system that guarantees him a percentage of his salary in a yearly pension after his retirement (a point Auburn use to hire Kevin Steele). At that point, he could leave Alabama for any other job and still get paid big $$$ by the state of Alabama.

Saban won't go, he will listen to offers but he knows he is best fitted for college football.

If Miami listens to Saban and signs Drew, the college football and NFL worlds are way different today.

This is true. He needs one more year (his 10th). And the percentage of his salary guaranteed caps out at somewhere in the neighborhood of $150K/year. He isn't getting millions annually from this pension.

As for him growing "restless", he stated last week that people just look at the coaching side of it, but that his LIFE is in Alabama. He's moved his mom to Bham from Myrtle Beach. Both of his kids live and work in Bham (one of them at a Mercedes dealership that Saban owns). His grandchild is in Bham and his wife goes to Bham 5 days a week.

I know it is fun for fans of opposing schools to speculate and wish, but Saban isn't leaving Bama until he retires...Then Bama is likely bringing Dabo home and telling him to keep recruiting at a high level and winning 10+ per year while competing for conference and national titles.

That would be a disaster for Indy.

Saban may be one of, if not the, best college coaches ever. But he is not an NFL HC. He flamed out so bad and so fast last time, I am surprised a team in the NFL would even look at him.

who loves plagiarism. It BLOWS my mind that NBC put's that fraud on TV and acts like he is some "insider". Guy is 100% hack.

Very true, and can you imagine the twilight zone world we'd be living in?

Saints SB win never happens
Peyton Manning has at least one more ring
Patriots have a consistent challenger in it's own division
Mark Richt gets a natty in 2012 and is still employed at UGA
LSU and Les Miles get another natty, job security is never questioned
Manziel doesn't win the Heisman
I could go on and on....

What if Saban leaves for the NFL and they replace him with this guy?

Is there a point to this question? It certainly has nothing at all to do with the point I made.

That said, both are great college coaches, and Chip did MUCH MUCH better as an NFL head coach than Saban.

On the one hand, I don't see him leaving Bama. He's got a dynasty there.

On the other hand, I know that his failure in the NFL goads him on a daily basis and he looks at Pete Carroll and sees that it can be done a second time.

I just think he's too much of a control freak to make it in the NFL. Just look at Chip Kelly.

Chip said he wants only the be in the NFL>

With 5 teams needing head coaches...It's likely 4 of them throw some teasers at Saban to see if he's interested.

I can only hope for some good news here...but not likely.

This may be one of the most overblown tropes on the Rants. He didn't fail miserably. He certainly wasn't as successful as he wanted. But he wasn't Cam Cameron level (1-15) bad.
