Let's hire Meyer the year after Herman and then Saban after that, one of them is bound to work.

So much stupidity in one post idk where to begin. This may be the dumbest thread that has ever been created on this board.

When the Big 12 situation is clearly off the table for UH. LSU simply cannot speak to him right now, and maybe not even at the end of the season, and if they get a chat after bowl season is through, which would mean no coach is hired, and recruiting is shot this year anyways, Herman still may not say yes. If Herman is the guy, this is the best route.

This is the issue with your idea. You don't wait around until late December or january. Just call the guy and pay him. Get the contract signed and let him coach his bowl game. If he doesn't sign, go after the next best long-term choice. Herman is not the be all, end all of coaches.

Toure making it too complicated.

a team ever hired a staff for one year, just to wait for another candidate after that? That would be the dumbest thing i've ever h

Arkansas and Ohio State both did it recently. Both made really good hires.

Nope, not at all. Hence why I said "GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES".

That doesn't negate the fact that your plan is to burn a year given the circumstances.

Thats like adding "with all due respect" before saying something disrespectful.

No its not.

What if He stays and that launched UH into the Big 12? The play is to just to try and hire him away, whiel were LSU of the SEC and they are still Houston of the AAC. He leaves and they stay Houston of AAC.

Because they fired their coaches, or they resigned, only a few months before the season. The situations aren't similar at all.

ETA: The original post is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. You don't fire a coach 4 games into a season and then wait 16 months to make a hire. What is wrong with you?

So if Houston loses to Louisville why wouldn't it be easy to grab him right at the end of the season. Offer the guy legit money and it should be over.

There is no way I see UT and OU allowing Houston into the Big 12.
