Exactly what he should be doing. Leveraging UM job for a better contract which wasn't rolled over the last 2 years. The only difference is LSU gets what they want in return and Michigan gets turned down by another Michigan man. Les stays. But they do create the illusion of due diligence knowing all along it would be Hoke.

Just like 2007, Les EARNED it this year. It wasn't easy and he kept his composure, kept the team focused, and EARNED it.

He deserves a raise so they should pay the man.

Yes he did. He handled the pressure like a champion. And the team not only held together, they GREW as the season progressed! That was the thing missing in the previous two seasons. Les Miles did a great coaching job this year!!!

Yes, you are correct. He earned his 4million dollars THIS year.

No reason the man deserves more than that. Nor does he need another 7 year deal.

So does he return money received for the previous two seasons where many feel he didn't deserve 4 mill.

It can't be a one way compensation plan.

I think LSU pays well for 11 win seasons. And didn't ask for a refund on the 8 and 9 wins.

Then no contract extension needed. If he handles pressure so well, then he should coach next year under the pressure of truly earning a contract extension by winning something meaningful again.

This is most likely. Too much to gain by staying in BR, but why not leverage a better deal?

So this year wasn't meaningful? The Cotton Bowl wasn't meaningful? An 11-win season isn't meaningful? Seriously, you need to think about what you say before you say it.

So do Brown and Saban not deserve their paychecks this year? And they both make more than Miles....Saban about 50% more.

Contracts are given and paid on the body of work, not individual seasons. Fisher and Mullin both got extensions and didn't do as well as LSU did this year. I guess you wouldn't have given them extensions?

Meaningful = winning the SEC West or the SEC or the NC, or a BCS Bowl game.

Any of the above. I don't apologize for having higher standards.

He has basically earned the right to be at LSU as long as he wants to be here. So buyouts and contract extensions shouldn't really be that big of a deal.

He is LSU's winningest coach (win %).

Well your standards are not higher, they are unrealistic.

He earns the right when he lands a decent OC coordinator in the next few weeks and has a staff that can develop offensive players.

ETA: The Tenn game.

Let us not downplay an 11 win season as we seek to feed off our own team biases, unknownknight. Methinks thou art an Aubie fan, eh?

Some LSU fans deserve to have Miles leave and have us strike out in a coaching search.

Really? It's unrealistic to assume Miles will ever win an SEC West title, the SEC, a BCS Bowl game, or a NC again? Why are you supporting a contract extension for the guy again?
